Man, imagine if we had a coaching staff to help AR mentally adapt like Young and develop accuracy like CJ.

I see what you did there.  Lol. Funny thing as much as I have faith in coaching getting the best out of  prospects.  I do not have the same faith that all prospects are teachable they are coaches not miracle workers. CJ seems a better bet than AR for developing.  Young is not a finished product either.  He is the one that our stellar coaching staff can give an advanced playbook and game plan  and he can digest it quickly and run with it. No dumbing down.  I could see you being right that the staff are betting on a ceiling.  AR is that guy with a stratosphere ceiling but the floor dude. I trust the staff. That said if we pass on Young and Stround for the lottery ticket and either or both become superstars we will be forever seen as the ones who overthunk it. K.I.S.S. method wins often. Keep it simple stupid. Pick the best.

Yeah, I'd go Stroud, but Im not going to lie, AR is tantalizing. Its just hard to know how far he would have to come to become more consistent throwing the ball, or if he will ever get to that point.

I do wonder if he would actually need as long to develop as people say, having that athleticism and being able to lean on running could make his transition a lot quicker while he works on the consistency as a thrower.

But yeah, I think the smart thing is to go Stroud, I see a lot of Burrow in him operating from the pocket (Not super athletic, but more than enough) and he's only 21, so still tons of room to grow.

Whoever it is we pick, they will be coached up.  I think it is Stroud 50% Young 30% Levis 10%, and AR 10%.

But criticizing (implied) Stroud because his WRs were open when he hits them in the #s is silly.  That could be because the DBs can't predict what Stroud is going to do or that he was not telegraphing.  Who knows.

I still believe they are looking for a QB to play mostly within the system, which is clearly Stroud to me.

Andy Reid also liked to have a QB to play within the system. See McNabb and Alex Smith.

But he since has drafted a playmaker and improviser at QB and has won two Super Bowls.

I don’t disagree, I just think Stroud is more the type he is looking for.

Nah, Stroud has played with multiple first round WRs.

Like Burrow during that LSU year, all he's done is hit the open guy. You can't really knock him or ask more of him because he operates within the confines of the system - he just happened to be surrounded by tons of talent.

What's going to sell them on Stroud's ceiling is how he does in chalkboard sessions and the feedback they get from the background checks. He checks all the physical boxes (you'd like a stronger arm, but it's good enough), so it's whether he's got the right mental make-up. Is he a driven competitor? Can he dissect his own plays and tell you what he was thinking when he threw that pass?

Same goes for Richardson I feel - although you're projecting more cos you're relying on your coaches being able to improve his mechanics (and no he doesn't have to be as accurate as Stroud to succeed in the NFL).

Don’t know if this has been posted, but fyi Bryce Young apparently scored high on the S2 Cognitive test for what that’s worth.

I have said I think Young has the stronger grasp of how to read defenses and process than any of the others.  I know it's all about his height/weight for most here, but I am telling you he will be a great NFL QB.

Maybe Stroud did well on the S2 too.  I really just saw one game where I thought Stroud's pre-snap reads and adjustments stood out and it was against GA where they had a month to prepare.  It doesn't work that way in the NFL.

Either way, I trust the staff we have to make the right choice!

    • Any idea what happened to him at LSU? im reading that he was considered a 1st round pick in 2023, had an off 2024 season with only 4 sacks but was also on a horrible FSU team then went to LSU where he was supposed to be on an aggressive defense that should have given him a lot of sacks but he only ended up with one….   was he injured? Did the top SEC competition expose him? What happened? Cause this guy was considered a top prospect .
    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
