So in a 3-4 base I'm thinking:

Brown - Tuttle - ???

Burns - Shaq - Chinn - Luvu on early downs / Burns - Shaq - Luvu - Haynes on obvious pass rush downs?

Horn - Woods - Bell - Jackson

If Chinn puts on some weight having him and Shaq in the middle could be nasty!  Also Barno is going to get some more playing time in the 3-4 IMO.

I’m guessing:

Brown - McCall/someone not on the team - Tuttle

Burns - Shaq - Chinn - Luvu/Haynes/Barno

Horn - Woods - Bell - Jackson

Does this signal Chinn to LB? I really thought we'd be looking for a true over the top FS, not another SS.

Or is Chinn gonna get shopped to recoup some draft capital?

Frank or Fitt one said we wanted a fast linebacker.  Chinn runs sub 4.5 iirc.

Like the way the defense is setting up.  Fast and hard hitting.  Bell and Chinn on the same D is fun to think about

Somebody who understands the 3-4 scheme explain to me what this means for Jeremy Chinn without using Chap GPT.

I won't pretend I know it all, but our expected base package is a two-high safety approach so Woods & Bell will be those outfielders with one sometimes a robber.

                     Woods -- Bell

Horn                                             Jackson

         Burns - Shaq - Chinn? - Luvu

                Brown - Tuttle - <TBD>

Now, this may only end up being 25-30% of our formations, but if we're keeping Chinn and want him in 90%+ of defensive snaps, that's kind of where he'll need to go at times.  Unless you want him deep.

People will say he fits this hybrid but they aren't accounting for a good fraction of our anticipated defensive looks.

He'll be akin to the hybrid role with a thousand nicknames otherwise in our nickel and dime subs.

If that’s the case then Chinn is getting traded.

Same and I have the same question as well

Chinn being on his last year of his rookie deal probably means we won’t fetch much for him. Imo I think we’d get more value from moving him to LB than trading him for picks and taking our chances in the draft or spend more money on another LB

    • I agree with OP notion, QBs always get credited for game winning drives even if they do minimal. Just last night Caleb got credited for a GE drive when they basically ran the ball the whole drive and only had to go 36 yards.   And there are drives where Bryce could of had a game winning drive if not for a Legette drop vs Philly or a Chubba fumble vs Tampa
    • You are actually, genuinely comparing Bryce to Jimmy fuging Pickles? Jimmy accounted for 3 touchdowns in his 10 starts in 2010. In Bryce’s 10 games post benching last year, he accounted for 20 touchdowns. Jimmy threw three touchdowns in 2010. Three. Bryce has thrown 10 touchdowns through 6 games. He is currently on track to throw for 3300 yards, 28 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Wtf are we even talking about anymore. I mean seriously
    • Tepper? The guy that directs the coaches towards goals that he set for them… that guy. He is the one.    I don’t think he ever was going to be expelled from class, they had him come in for garbage time maybe the 2nd week he was benched.  I will say this. People said he wasn’t under pressure the last part of the year when he did better, but he was fighting for his career and that’s pressure. And he saved his career too. I don’t reject him for those kinds of things I reject him for the physical things. I have always brought it down to he has slim margin for error and has to be perfect. People with the tool set have a little fatter margin for error. Why make it harder on yourself? Got nothing to do with hating him.  I am no statistician but game that margin thing out a lot and see how that works.
