Get the WR's now, use 2nd pick for defense

Personal opinion is that they need to get the WR's in FA (trade for Hopkins and sign Chark). Use the 2nd for a player that could add pressure in the new 3-4 scheme.

Who to trade for Hopkins is debatable, but having those two on board this year would solve many issues on the offense.

This draft has big guys with speed that could be MOVED AROUND/HYBRED type player with size and speed which would add much needed pressure. A missing piece in the defense for sure.

EDGE is a definite spot for us to bolster, but with Burns, Luvu, Haynes, & Barno, I wonder if the better focus is a hand-in dirt chess piece on the line.  Keeanu Benton, Mazi Smith or Karl Brooks seem like the type I could see as a big fit.

I will say, this draft is not top heavy but it is deep as heck with EDGE, RB, & TE.  This is one of the deeper EDGE classes in a minute so maybe we do take advantage.

I could see us targeting a KJ Henry, Elijah McGuire, Byron Young, Tyler Lacy type with one of the 4ths.

With this R2 consideration, there are 3 prospects that do make my eyebrow perk up: Felix, Ojulari, & Adebawore.  They seem hard to pass on.

Trade for Hopkins and we no longer than have that second pick.

You're not going to get both Hopkins and Chark.  Personally I think they should sign Chark and draft another.

As disillusioned as I am with the WRs in this draft as early as early round 2, I might agree with this, then in the third round, trade up for WR Charlie Jones--I am high on him, and he seems to be ready to play day 1.  I think he is a sleeper.

On Spotrac, Chark has a value estimated at $9.5m.  That is a bit high, considering where the others have fallen.  I think we will offer him a deal, in the 3-year, $22m range.

Don't forget, Hardman is still out there.

And I know everyone has already stamped a star on the side of his head, but Odell is out there too.   That should make some excited, others nervous.

I have a hard time imagining Chark getting anything more than a 1 year deal from any other team

Which is why our cap situation makes signings like this tough

So for us we have to add years to fit these guys in and taking the majority of the hit next year

Do we have the Cap Space for Hopkins? What are the Cardinals going to ask for? Obviously having Stroud, Hopkins, Sanders, Terrace Marshall, a slot that can stretch the field vertically, Hayden Hurst, etc. makes our offense very capable of contending this year in the NFC South and maybe the NFC in general. The Eagles lost a ton of players and two coaches, they will be lucky to get to .500 in my opinion. So the conference is wide ass open.

Personally, I'd like to nab Nick Hampton out of App State if he's there on Day 3. OLB who can cover in space while also providing some elite bend off the edge to go with Burns on passing downs (6'3 240, which is the same as Will Anderson).

There are a bunch of slot receivers in the second round, but no real #1 WRs worthy of that pick. We need to either trade back up into the 1st round for a #1, or trade for a WR from some other team, or get a FA. One of these things is going to happen imo. The again, Fitt just foolishly restructured Jackson so he might do something else stupid with the WR situation.

    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
