Would it not be smart to keep M.C around?

I’d say give him the preseason to see where he is. Then decide to keep him or stash him on the PS. I can’t imagine we could get more than a 6th for him right now. He has an injury history and didn’t even make it to the regular season in year 1.

That's where I am with him.  Assuming we draft Young or Stroud, if Corral looks decent and the coaches think he has potential, keep him.  Dalton won't be around forever.

The Process screwed both Corral and the Panthers with the way he was handled last year.  It was incompetence (or stupidity, or both) at its finest.  The result is his value in a trade is minimal.

There may be a few teams that would show an interest, but with what we invested in him, the fact he costs little, and the fact he wouldn't garner much in a trade, I think it is better to give him a shot and see if he is worth a roster spot later. If he looks decent, one of those offers may get better as teams try to solidify their rosters for the regular season.

On the PS sure but I’d rather just carry our rookie and Dalton on the 53

The moment he gets put on the practice squad he will be picked up by another team that is willing to work with him.  It would be foolish.  If you are going to put him on the PS might as well release him.

SF should be a prime example of not giving up on a rookie.  Purty was an afterthought pick and now is heading into 2023 as the #1 QB in SF.

God forbid our rookie QB get hurt and we are back to running with a has been QB.

If our rookie QB gets hurt I can’t see Matt Corral saving the season I’d rather have that 53rd spot as a un upside d lineman that could actually work into the rotation. Having 3 QBs in the 53 is a poo roster construction IMO

Let another team have him. He won't see the field here.

TBH, he could easily be stashed on the practice squad without much threat of him being poached by another team.

That’s kind of what I thought. He was reported to be available for a “ham sandwich” and no one was interested. Stash him on the practice squad and give him a year to develop. Stroud/Young and Dalton are locks for the 2 QBs and I don’t think Reich typically has 3 active QBs on his roster.

I wouldn't get rid of him so casually. In fact, if he shows the new coaches enough potential, I'd rather dump Dalton if we only keep 2. I recognize his value as a mentor and reliable backup, but young QBs with potential don't grow on trees.

I hope the staff doesn't just discard him if he shows something.

Not sure why we would only keep two. The niners went thru 4 last year and it cost them at shot at the superbowl.

We dont have the roster the niners have if we are on our 3rd/4th QB the season is lost. Those spots can be used for people who actually contribute on game day. How many games do you think we win last season with Brock Purdy?

    • It's true, but don't forget those metrics and how Bryce statistically was near the bottom of nearly every one of them. He should markedly improve (I mean, how can he not), but how much so is anyone's guess at the moment. Is he too short, noodle-armed and inaccurate to be a professional QB? That's still the question. Has he been "Kerred?" I hope not, but he wasn't particularly accurate from pressured pockets or clean pockets as the author said. We can only wait and hope that the new coaches can help Bryce by putting him in a better situation.
    • If and when Koochie is given the keys he will be a top 5 goalie in this league.  I believe in my heart he is the guy. Home grown Vs free agent pickups like all of our last goalies
