Pauline believes it's Stroud, but Reich wants AR

yeah i'm super sure that a new head coach joined a team coming off 5 losing seasons in a row and said "i'll fix it with this QB who threw 48% over his 13 career games or you can fire me, i'm comfortable hitching the rest of my career to this idea."

I still think it's Stroud. We moved up to number 1 right after CJ's combine performance. Our QB coach loves his tape.  Had we moved up after Young's pro day I would be less sure.

Yeah I dunno why you would get Dalton as the backup and McCown as the QB coach if Bryce is the pick. CJ is the natural progression from their style of play.

Perhaps, but it's not like Dalton and McCown ever smoked the league, much less set it on fire.

This whole "we moved up right after the combine so it must be Stroud or Richardson" makes me laugh. When, otherwise, we're we supposed to move up? It was reported a billion times that the ideal time to move up was before free agency started to have flexibility, it has nothing to do with who dominated the combine.

Only ones I’d say “challenge” these qb are Bijan and Anderson. Carter has so many flaws to me (on field).

And I obviously know that qbs jump to the top regardless of grade. But there are people grading other players over the QBs. Will likely never know what actual teams grade them.

I don't think NFL com grades are the end all be all but they at least provide grades and have been doing so for years. I will give these more weight then some twitter schmoe who just gives a list.

I'm curious tho as someone supposedly on the AR train.

If he is what this organization deems to be the franchise, does it really matter where he is selected?

Did they pay a steep price to get AR at No 1? Yeah. But if they were worried that he wouldn’t absolutely be available at a lower pick, then jumping to get “the guy” is absolutely worth it. Is he going to be the pick? I doubt it. But if he is, then I’ll be all-in on it.

Bro Bryce has been the projected #1 pick since last year.

I get the size question, but don't act like this dude can't play the QB position. Ignore the size he has the best tape of all the QB's.

Tua was also the projected #1 pick in his draft for awhile...... I bet the Bengals are glad they didn't take him..

A) You can't ignore the size.

B) I'm not sure he does have the best tape (especially when it comes to projection)

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
