The Real Reason Bryce Being the Pick Scares Me - He'll be the Marvin Lewis of QB's

did you get this when you did your personal interviews with him?

Must have been an interview with the Reverse Bryce, Ecyrb, because I didn't pick that up at all in the Clark interview. On the contrary, he sees football as "his thing" indeed, and his family picked up on that at an early age (his dad said "at 4 months") and focused on putting him in position to succeed.

For those who know Bryce Young's philosophy and his family, you understand you are getting a QB who will exit the NFL early like an Andrew Luck. Not because he has to, but because he has had his fill of football and wants to open his next chapter in life.

You are not getting a 10 to 20 year QB mentality with Young. You are getting the short king for a short ride who will play the game the way he sees fit until he has had his fill and football loses it's fun. That philosophy is great for HS and college, but it won't hold up to fighting through the tough times in the NFL to be the best when the game becomes a grind and a job that requires the perseverance to push through no matter the cost for the betterment of the team to be the best of the best in a game that means nothing in the big picture of life.

It takes a certain type of player and mind to achieve a franchise QB level like Brady, Manning, Montana, Unitas, Staubach, and Favre.

Young is not that personality/mindset.

Bryce can keep a play alive but, ultimately, I think you want the guy that consistently provides elite ball placement by hitting receivers in stride or dropping the ball in places where only the receiver has a shot at the ball.  CJ Stroud is that guy.  I personally will be SHOCKED if you do NOT take Stroud.

On another note, a Yahoo guy has Young, Richardson, and Levis going 1,2, & 3.  Lol.  That guy is on acid.

Prepare to be shocked.

Man we're really starting to have to stretch for reasons to not draft him.

With all that elite ball placement and talent at OSU. Can you point us to the one signature win, CJ had for your Buckeyes? Did you beat Michigan, Win BIG 10, or go to Championship game?

The OP comments is actually my concern about Stroud. His lack of off-schedule plays and primarily stationary style of play will be enough to take you to the divisional round or wildcard but when playoff games are decided by 7 points or less, CJ doesn't make the requisite plays. The AFC championship game was decided by 4 points, the SB by 3.

I just watch tape of him and Stroud and scratch my head wondering how anyone on this planet could think he's the guy to pick. Size aside, to think Young is going to be able to stand back there for 3+ seconds every single snap in the NFL is absolutely laughable.  The dude had an almost comically clean pocket at Alabama.  Brady-esque.  Not going to happen on the Panthers.

there are plenty of examples that show him escaping pressure, keeping a play alive when the pocket breaks down, and hitting a receiver in broken plays.

This post has everything... kudos, seriously.

Comparing a quarterback with a linebacker? Check. Comparing a coach with an on field player? Check. Saying Stroud would be a better pick because he's easy to move off of if a flop? Check.

Peak Huddle.
