How can you not be excited about this pick based off of Campen's reaction.  He really wanted this guy, and we got him.  Many of us have played sports or still do.  You know that feeling when you nail a shot to win the game.  You react just like this.

If I wasn't excited before, I am now.

This isn't just applicable to Zavala, but it's nice to see the Panthers finally getting guys from the local schools.

Does make me wonder though, if NCSU's oline was this good a couple of years ago, why was their run game one of the worst in the ACC?

If he can take BC's job at LG, then BC becomes our OT depth as the swing T. Then he takes over RT when Moton's contract hits $30m.   At G, we then have Mays (who looked good in brief duty last year) and Corbett--and McCray behind Zavala and Corbett.  Mays and McCray can play C and G.

I don’t mind if every year  they make Campen happy with a Olinemen pick..

The Panthers came to terms with these 2 undrafted rookie OL right after the draft — OT Ricky Lee (North Carolina A&T) — OG Nash Jensen (North Dakota State).

Yeah, Brady is cool but Campen loves him some tough Motherfugers or what he said when he cussed like 10 times in his opening presser last year. They didn't outright say it but I could see Brady going back to swing tackle/starting right guard while Corbett is out and letting the NC state boys road grade on the left side with Boze in the middle. After Bryce the theme seems to be dudes not scared to hit, which is something we've had an issue with for a while

    • These kickers are getting so good
    • They're pretty far off, double T-Mac's stats to get to the same targets as XL and it would be 4 drops to 7.  A 3 drop difference might not sound like a lot, but it's still almost twice as many drops on the same number of targets. Not to mention, if I remember correctly, XL's drop problems last year seemed more down field, where he was dropping passes he should be making and it was clear his poor hands were there reason he dropped them. And weren't both of T-Mac's drops this year on quick hitters with blockers out in front of him?  I know at least the second one was as he was going to go for a huge play and maybe a TD on it. To me, and yes, I'd say this about any other player, those are drops because a rookie was trying to do too much in making a play before securing the catch.  Much easier to improve upon than dropping passes because you have bricks for hands and body catch more often than hands catch, like with XL. And yes, 100%, which is why I wasn't one of those people you were referring to with talking about him that way last year.  Yes, I said he had drop problems., because he did, but I didn't think they were unsolvable and expected to see great improvement this year (unfortunately not sure that happened though).
    • Every iffy call has gone the way of the Chiefs tonight, per usual. They had a TD earlier tonight that looked like obvious offensive pass interference and the flag was throw but picked up.
