At this point in time, who feels like we lost this trade?

I don’t understand how we can win or lose a trade before any games are played. This is the time of year where everyone says everything is going perfect with their teams or looking up and all things are going well. Wait until bullets are flying. How can we even tell today if we will miss our first round pick next year? Right now we are happy with the trade and they are happy with the trade. Hopefully it works out for both teams.

It never once bothered me that we traded away DJ Moore. I’m only bringing him up because most all the pundits were using him as the reason we lost the trade. I never understood it, he’s a good wide receiver but he is (and was) replaceable.

Great player and person, just couldn't find the end zone often enough me

Thats not his fault.  For what he is and what he gives you his contract is very very team friendly.  I gave fitts props for that at the time.  Hate to lose him but if it leads to a franchise qb, well then good luck in chi town dj.

Trying to determine who won the trade right now is like trying to figure out if the stock you just bought was a good deal, even though the market hasn't opened since you bought it.

From the limited perspective of getting a good deal for the #1 overall pick, I think we can declare it a win.  I think da Bears can probably say the same thing since they were starved for WRs.  Both teams got what they wanted.

But there is a lot of football between now and a sweeping declaration of victory or defeat for either team.

This is not a zero sum game, its doesn't have to be a clear winner or loser. The Panthers feel great about what they got and the Bears do too.

Excellent perspective. We both got what we wanted/needed out if the deal . That's the way all deals should be

Until he has led us to 6 or 7 division championship, a handful of conference championship appearances, and a Superbowl appearance or 2. . .we lost in that trade.

Yeah - Cause DJ Moore obviously led us to so many division titles and scored countless touchdowns.

You expect all of that from a first round pick, two 2nds, and a half a little piece of WR?

What fuging players would you have projected us to pick with said picks? And I guess DJ was about to become the second coming of Jerry fuging Rice?  GTFOH.

Some of you fugs act like we dont have a 1st found pick for the next 10 years.

Posting this in early June is as smart as the guy who did the "We Already Won The Darnold Trade" thread after Week 2 of 2021.

This isn’t a thread stating we know how this would pan out. It’s a question about how you “feel”. It’s a slow time of the season and this is a discussion board. I’m not here saying we can tell the results of the trade before Young has even played a snap. We had a ton of debate before the draft on the cost of the trade, so it’s a good time to revisit this discussion after we have made FA moves and finished up with the draft.

    • By all indications, the surgery was "minor." I know with all surgeries and especially back surgery there can be complications, but I think the whole time Tremble did this with the expectation he would be able to be back for Week 1 It sounds like he will be ready to start back in team drills next week. He's a veteran who knows the system so I'm sure that helps. I still can't imagine he will play a normal workload early on though
    • Maybe. He was pretty good in college before a bad injury. He had a good preseason last year as a UDFA in Washington and was on their practice squad all year so they obviously saw something worth developing. He signed a futures deal with the Panthers earlier this year, and everything about him has been increasingly positive. Tremayne has gotten a decent amount of time with the ones, and a lot with the twos for someone that doesn't have a chance. He's the only other 6'4" plus WR on the team, plays ST, and is a more natural backup to the X receiver position than David Moore. That was my thinking behind it. But he may well end up as one of the last roster cuts. If so, I do hope they can bring him back to the PS. But I personally think there's a good chance he could be claimed given his ST ability and what hes shown at WR.
    • That was my thought originally, but so many of the beat writers have mentioned keeping 7 WRs in conversations that I went with that, at least for the purposes of this projection. But you're right that historically defensive guys who were standouts at ST have tradionally gotten those last spots
