I work in sports marketing and I met Mike a year or two ago at an event we were holding. He was super nice (goes by "Mike," not "Michael") and I came away liking the dude and hoping he did well. The coaches sure had a lot of patience with him this preseason and gave him every opportunity to not struggle, but at this point in his career he's likely USFL-bound.

Still, the dude made some money in the NFL and did something few offensive linemen can ever say they did (scored a touchdown in a game).

It needed to happen but I just can't celebrate a guy losing his job unless he's a known POS.

Looks like he's made roughly $4M so far in his career. After agent cut, taxes, etc. it's not set for life money but it's a damn good financial head start if he's been smart with it. If he's done he could work an average Joe job and live an average Joe lifestyle and be very comfortable.

    • Pretty sure that a QB contract payday is all the competition any QB in this league needs, I don't think a competent backup is going to make them play any harder when the current situation wouldn't warrant the contract extension yet anyways. Your opening point in this post is also the problem, "Bryce has shown signs of improving", but that's still all he's shown, and he's only showing that because of just how bad he was to start his career. If he played like last season from the beginning and never improved one bit, then I actually think more fans would be ready to move on from him, which is what's weird.  It's like going from one of the biggest draft busts of all time into the 25th best QB in the league over 3 years means he deserves a long term $40+ million a year contract extension. Improvement shouldn't be the goal when the result of said improvement is still bottom of the league levels.
    • Yeah, but we've seen him do it. Just not often. I think that's the reason for the taller WRs. Would likely be a problem finding someone like Jimmy Horn in the mess.
    • And the Rams, Seattle, Patriots, Green Bay, Jaguars and the Bills who all made the playoffs and in case you forgot, Seattle and the Patriots played in the SB. By any measure, that's pretty brutal.
