Outside Perspective on Bryce

I keep expecting more quickness from him. But he can't see to turn a corner and out run DEs that are in chase.

To be fair, he absolutely dropped a safeties panties on the ground on an incredibly important 3rd down run. That was a sweet move and Bryce looked to be scooting past the defense.

Just my opinion here, but it seems to me like he’s looking downfield too long (as weird as that sounds). When it’s time to jetpack and scramble he’s so well trained to keep his head downfield that he’s getting run down too easily. The problem is your receivers have to get open if you want to do that. And our WR group absolutely sucks right now. I’m pretty sure I could assemble a flag football team to blanket those guys. Watching replay today and most of them just stand still staring at Bryce when the play breaks down. Thielen is the only guy constantly working to get open.

Now the little shoulder brush sack sucked. There’s no way around that. It just can’t happen. Bryce is going to have to be stronger than that. He also closed his eyes to throw during another sack. That can’t happen either. But ultimately I don’t think he’s Tom Brady level slow or anything; dude is just always trying to find something downfield at this point in his career.

It’s bad…we all know it’s bad but are in different stages of coping.

Denial - he will be just fine

Anger - the fug is going on

Bargaining - if we get him weapons/better coaching he will be better.

Depression - why can’t they make things work

Acceptance - we just gonna keep on sucking

Acceptance. That's me.

Honestly, Bryce doesn't look bad to me.  He's a rookie with flea market Wide Receivers. Every WR on our roster are receivers that should only get 2 catches per game.

If Mingo doesn't drop that 1st down and Bryce doesn't fumble the ball for -40 yards, Panthers would have been set up to win that game. It seems momentum plays a big part in why the Panthers always end up losing games.

My dad is a lifelong Eagles fan.  He interrupted my rant last night while texting during the game, reminding me just how bad Jalen Hurts was year 1.  That season, and even most of year 2, he was calling for Hurts to be benched.  Hurts learned and developed, and is now a top 10 QB.  I’m down on Bryce right now, but probably unfairly so.

Nice post.  Thanks for paying attention to an older guy.

BTW, That pie I gave is for your dad.

That’s because he’s still looking to push the ball downfield even when scrambling. My god you people don’t understand what’s happening out there at all.

    • Idk man, I think it’s necessary.  There’s people working 9-5s everyday that get told poo about what they aren’t and what they’re not capable of and they’re working for scraps.  These guys are making millions.  People are watching and invested because their team and fandom is a part of their identity and a big source of pride.  When someone like Bryce comes in and is given chance after chance after chance after proving he is not worthy of the position he’s being gifted, and he continues to be the biggest reason above any that we are losing, yeah…  I think it’s fair to call a spade a spade.  Am I saying Bryce the person is trash?  Bryce the person is a piece of poo?  Absolutely not.     I came up in an era, especially in basketball, where if you were fuging up people heckled the poo out of you.  I played in rec leagues as a teen where the fuging parents were calling kids trash and yelling poo like “TURNOVER!!!  TURNOVER!!!”  “CANT DRIBBLE!”  “CANT SHOOT!”  And that’s adults screaming that poo to kids like we were in the fuging Rucker lol.🤣🤣🤣  I went on to play basketball at a collegiate level and with professional players in different settings.  What those experiences as a kid taught me was to see if there is any merit to what people are saying, and if there is, then work my ass off til they can’t say that anymore.  Come back better, tougher, harder.  And I did.  If kids can figure that poo out, an adult calling another adult who is bad at his job while making millions and millions of dollars will be just fine.
    • I have tried to like this team, lord knows I have tried. BY9 is a nice young man, if I had a daughter he can take her to prom, but he ain't QB1 and he's not Cam or Delhomme Chuba is a average RB, he isn't Stephen Davis, he isn't J-Stew McMillan has the makings of a good WR, but he isn't 89/Moose D. Brown is a great player, but if the game was on the line I want Kris Jenkins       I miss this brand of football, even in the bad Jake games the games were entertaining It has been nearly 8 years now of watching numb football
    • I'm not so sure. Something about the whole Frank/Bryce situation seemed off from day 1. Bryce didn't fit Frank's QB mold as well as Stroud, then he basically gives up when Bryce is named starter in preseason but gets virtually no reps in games. Then he looks completely unprepared and Dalton steps in in Seattle, has a decent game under immense pressure, and it's right back to Bryce. All his mechanics are terrible and he's having the worst rookie season ever and Frank doesn't bench him?  You dont have to be a conspiracy theorist to know Bryce wasn't ready to be a day 1 starter. Everything with Bryce, then coaches, and the FO seemed forced.
