credit where credit is due but Hurney was really good at scouting top end talent. It's the rest of the roster building that he was often terrible at.

Most can draft in the top 8 with success, i wonder why herniay got good at that.....hmmm

plus a few of them where like peppers everyones pick.

will give credit about cam, think about these teams with locker or gabbert.....hell locker quit a couple years in...

paying RBs&MLBs when the 92% of the league wasnt, unforgivable. I think at one point both jstew and dwill where in the top 5 paid and cap for a few years TOGETHER. waste of resources, that main one...

If this is really true, why did he sign Bridgewater to a 3 year deal for starter’s money a month before the draft if he wanted to trade up to get Herbert?

Due to Covid, his presence at Oregon’s pro day was highlighted. I posted an article above where Detroit was very open to trading back from 3 because Okudah would have been available. They said there was no interest in moving up so their price to move down wasn’t crazy high. If Hurney wanted to force his point and go after Herbert he sure didn’t make a stink about it or even contact Detroit when they made it widely known they were willing to move down.

There have been so many busts in the top 8. It’s not guaranteed you will draft a franchise cornerstone, let alone a good player. Ask Fitterer.

I don’t even think there’s another GM with a 100% success rate in the first round.

    • Bingo. The dude is a baller no doubt and I'd love to have him in a vacuum but like you said he's gonna fetch a haul so the only teams it really makes sense for are teams with an overall good roster who they feel an edge rusher like Crosby would out them over the top in terms of competing for SBs. I'd be looking st teams like the Pats, Bucs, Ravens, Seahawks, etc. It wouldn't be shocking to see him moved. He may be more valuable to a rebuilding team in the form of the draft assets he'd fetch than he is on the field. He should still have several more good years in the tank at 28 but by the time the Raiders can reasonably expect to rebuild he's gonna be on the decline.
    • Crosby will garner a haul in a trade. I would be reluctant to make that trade because of the following: 1. Our overall roster is awful. We cannot afford to be trading away valuable draft capital. 2. He isn't the best fit(IMO) for the scheme that Evero runs.  I love the player but it would really need to be at a reasonable deal and I think he is likely to garner an unreasonable price if he gets traded.
    • In terms of need, EDGE is currently #1. Our pass rush is near league worst levels. However, I don't subscribe to "need" based drafting. BPA all day.  We do need to dramatically upgrade over Scourton, Jones, Wonnum and Umanmielen. That is likely in the running for the NFL's worst two deep. Not saying all those players are bad, but I am saying 100% of those players are 2nd or 3rd stringers.
