No, because we can get out from Bryce in 2-3 years anyways and pay him less overall than we'd have to pay Kyler in a single season.  And a healthy Kyler will be good enough to keep us from drafting in the Top 5 to get a replacement QB, I think Bryce very well may pull a Clausen for us after year 2 or 3 and get us his replacement.

So you want to tank for two seasons? Cos that's the only way that pays off.

I don’t think he means intentionally tank. I think he means it might just happen with this staff, roster and QB that we end up with the 1st pick overall in 2025.

Let’s say this all blows up this year. New staff, a lot of roster turnover again after this year, new scheme and Bryce. It could happen…

The way a lot of these contracts were structured and the inclusion of DJ into the trade allows us to somewhat “recover” in 2 years if this all didn’t work.

This is honestly such a damn mess already it’s crazy.

I can appreciate a dream scenario given our state of affairs. But Kyler Murray? OP you should have known this would backfire in a hurry. Even I would keep Bryce Young over that. If we suck keep the cheaper option in the meantime and revisit this in 2025. We made our bed.

    • After last season, it was the same question. And the answer most people came to was "If he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gone." He made the playoffs. No matter how it was done, we made it to the playoffs. He's safe. He's going to have a chance to keep working this out, even if next season isn't a playoff one.  I think we'll do better next year than we did this season. There's something being built here.
    • The NBA is a very fickle league. Kon is one of the hottest rookies in years and beyond just his play on the court he is a very steady competitor and that translates to the rest of the team. That has been a glaring absence with the culture of this franchise through the bulk of the LaMelo Ball years that's just being completely blunt and realistic. The enigma of LaMelo Ball is he is entering year 6 and still either red hot or ice cold. We need him to find that sweet spot. Logic dictates the Hornets will want to see this core again next year. But the clock is beyond ticking at this point. It's put up or shut up. Especially considering what the Thunder managed to do recently. I'm hopeful they can keep these wins rolling in and get some much needed playoff experience under their belts which will help substantially.
    • I think as long as the Panthers are competitive with Canales they should keep him. Pepper needs to repair his/the teams image as a place prized free agents aren't hesitant to consider. Just dont do any crazy poo for a few years.
