Brian Burns statline: 2 tackles, 0 sacks

Recommended Posts

The sad part is he will show up once we trade him to a contender.

If Fitt makes a deal it needs to be to a team that will give us a legit chance to draft another QB. If we could end up with Penix Jr that would be great.

I vouched for Young, but it's clear he lacks the physical tools. Weak arm and not really the high IQ that the Panthers raved about. If there is a chance we can get another QB we have to draft one.

Not a single sack today by the entire defense.

Derrick Brown - 2 tackles. At least burns put up a tackle for a loss.

Ton of injuries and the entire defense has declined each and every game. But sure just pile on Burns just because our GM is an idiot.

We do have injuries, but a DE who wants $30M plus should be able to create on his own.  He's on the edge and if he is so damn good he should be causing a lot more disruption than he is.  Look at what Peppers did, look at what Bosa does.....other examples out there as well.  He is not THAT GUY.  He can't play the run..AT ALL.  He tackled the all time great running back AIR last week.

I am going to pile on Burns because of who he thinks he is and who he is NOT.

    • I think what makes a qb elite is when every week you think your team has a chance to win because of your qb. No matter who they play, they always make you feel like you have a chance. I have not gotten that feeling once while watching Bryce.
    • Great point!  The quotes from O'Connell about teams failing rookie Qbs and the one about how you coach them after 3 picks and a loss were really interesting.  To me, an idiot with a keyboard, it means NFL teams need to be patience if they are going to have quality QB play. So bringing me to Bryce, is there some benefit to being patient.  I know it's not a particularly popular opinion around here, and even I am having a hard time wrapping my head around it.  Most QBs, when benched lose their confidence.  It takes a LONG time to get it back.  Bryce on the other hand was benched, and came back a different player.  I feel like that's worth a lot more than the physical talents of a guys like AR15... I think Bryce has the mental make up to be a good NFL QB.  His problem will always be his tools.  Now it's on coaching to work around that.  Bryce is more physically gifted than late years Drew Brees (low bar, I know).   While I'm content to see what happens this season, there's a small part of me that says...maybe we should see what grows?  (let me duck and hide from the well earned vitriol the Panthers have earned). Then again, I agree that some guys get it while others just don't.  I'm still hoping for the Panthers and Bryce to find success this season.  But if not, I won't be too surprised if the plug is pulled and there is a restart.
