Assume burns is gone after this season if we don’t trade him. walks we get a third.

we trade him for Adams we get 3 years (conservative) of good production for a qbs most important developmental years.

we trade burns for a pick, we get to trust fitterer or Nicole tepper or whomever of finding a young rookie who MIGHT be what Adams is.

I dunno, it makes sense to me.

i think being worried about age with certain players is overblown. If the panthers had pulled the trigger on joe thomas for a first in 2015 they probably would have won the Super Bowl and no one would care he retired in 2017.

I get it. I just don't think we're anywhere close to being in that 2015 roster building mindset and if we trade Burns I'd rather it be for a quality player under 30 or a premium pick(s).

Trading a 25 year ,old pass rusher for a 30 year old WR feels like a "get over the hump" much more than it feels like oart of a roster rebuild and I think we need to be in the latter mindset.

You have a lot of great points, but to me the picks make the most sense.  Example we trade Burns to the Ravens for their 1st and 3rd possibly a low tier player as well.  So now we have a first and third in the draft to build around Bryce plus the extra cap space we save by not having to pay the Adams contract which is $17 million next year then jumps to $35 million a year the next two years when he is 32/33 years old.  You could add 3 solid players for that kind of money.  So now you have 3 vet players to fill roster spots, plus a 1st, plus a 3rd (so 5 possible starters) vs Adams (who won't be happy hear if he isn't happy in LV).

Could is the key word though all around with counting on draft picks to pan out and finding 3 solid free agents that live up to their contracts that would have more impact than Adams. He is still an elite receiver for the next few years and could really help in Bryce's development, think of how big of an impact Tyreek has had on Tua. Do you think the Dolphins regret the trade and what they are paying him?

It may be all a moot point anyway since I don't see Adams wanting to come here.

You are right about the picks, but a first round pick holds value.  Say we use it for a sign and trade for Higgins for example.  The age thing is the biggest red flag.  Like you stated I don't think he wants to play for a rebuilding team.  If he was 5 plus years younger I would be all for it.  The Dolphins as you stated were a lot more complete team than we are.  Plugging in a vet elite WR put them over the edge.

Raiders

they just paid Crosby and drafted a DE 7th overall this draft.

they’re not trading for Burns

pretty sure Wilson is a 5 and frankly if a team calls offering you a pass rusher entering his prime for a guy who isn’t part of the long term plan you take that deal

frankly the panthers should also get a high pick with this trade

I just don't understand the desire to add players who are disgruntled on teams that are not as bad as us to this volatile situation and thinking we aren't going to eventually end up in the same conundrum. Whether it's Adams Jeudy or whoever. If they're available it's for a reason.

Yeah we aren’t the elixir for a disgruntled player

The problem with Vegas is that they have two #1s (Adams and Jakobi Meyers) and you can't feed them both the ball every game. Meyers is ok with that ... Adams is not. The exact same is happening in Buffalo with Diggs and Gabe Davis. You can't feed them both and Diggs will be the one to cry about it.

That said, if Adams did come here (lol), he'd have to be our #1 (which he would be) and AT would have to be ok with a diminished role (which he would be). The problem is ... can our OC and Bryce give Adams the amount of work he's been used to and wants? I say no ... which just means he'll be frustrated once again, this time for a different reason, and will once again want out.

AT is perfect for Bryce. Cross routes at 10 yds. If we ever do get a #1, he needs to be young, hungry, NOT a diva (yet), and willing to play for a crap team. In other words, a rookie.

What is going on with that Raiders receiving talent is weird.   Adams is still on of the best in the game.  Refrow was largely regarded as the best pure slot player in the game.  And Raiders have been like, nah.....we don't want to throw to those people.

Absolutely. But he's also still absolutely on the physical decline.

That's why he's having to do his damage largely out of the slot against nickels, safeties, and LBs instead of on the outside against starting CBs like he used to in his prime.

you also have to wonder with his usage to date is he going to hit a wall in a few weeks

    • Varying degrees all around but it starts at the top. That is where the buck stops. It has been 8 years of stupid, long before Morgan came back. Or Tillis was hired. Made it to the top of stupid mountain in 2023. Stayed in stupid limbo for a while, now we are prepping to scale the next mountain. In this case, I like those guys’ roster building better than what we have had so I am okay with them as our current pawns in the game of Bryce.
    • Don't let me gas him up too much, but I hear this and that...... I seen a wide body man with a quick burst, that's able to shed blocks and if extends his long arms its over. He tore up the OL in the senior, you seen about 10 plays and the dog walking OLman. There's other plays of him doing the same, just have to deal with fetus talking over the plays. Plus there's this-  https://x.com/PFF_College/status/2018385471068332410?lang=en     I hope he's ready, cause Id like to see him starting and doing his thang with dbrown, nic, and Phillips.
    • I mean there is relevance to that. But I think much of it has to do with the fact that he is clearly likeable. But does that translate to a coach taking his position to the next level like those that have had staying power for many years like Spoelstra? And not for nothing but does how much someone is liked even matter? Across leagues with the Panthers Ron Rivera and Marty Hurney were universally well liked by players. Dave Canales is very well liked. I say you are what your record says. And the record says you got your ass handed to you by a fellow expansion team in the Magic in a game that was over at halftime and that same team went toe to toe with our nemesis who has been handing us L's for over a year now. And if Bam doesn't get his leg swept by LaMelo do we even get past the Heat? Again. It just all boils down to personal standards. I think newer and younger fans will love this. I just want to actually win a real playoff game fam 🤷‍♂️
