The "LAST TIME" you had true hope/hype coming into the season....

We even looked bad in preseason.

We looked terrible in the preseason. I was sounding the alarm but got laughed off by the serious fans who know that preseason is completely irrelevant and that we didn't want to show what we had in Bryce and we'd really start kicking ass once the regular season started and we were game planning and scheming it up.

Well... I'm still waiting.

Now mind you, these same serious fans dismissing our preseason struggles were also spiking the football about how much better Bryce was gonna be because Stroud threw an INT on his first preseason drive.

2019... I honestly thought a healthy Cam and this team was primed for one more run at it with the vets we had

Cam, CMC, DJ, Luke, TD, Olsen, Samuel, Olsen

Getting McCoy, having Dontari Poe, Bruce Irvin

This team was primed to take off but Cam's foot just had other idea. It was after this year it all got blown up and it was the last year that this team even had the semblance of a Carolina Panthers DNA team

as an aside, whoever knows the name / beat that McCaffrey is playing, I will venmo you $25, I can't find it

Look at the talent on that team.... who we got now? nobody.

I was hyped at the end of last year because I thought Wilks was going to get the job he earned and we would eventually resign Cam to get our big balls swag back.

Then we would inevitably draft AR or Stroud as the heir to the Empire once Cam inflicted his justice upon the league for the NFL stealing his Super Bowl 8 years prior. We would still have DJ Moore, and Foreman(he wouldn’t want to leave). Burns would be playing with heart. Chark would be getting hit in stride. And the world would be at peace.

When I thought we were hiring Wilks I had hope. The last half of the season last year was the happiest I had been since they brought Cam back. I just knew we would get back to being the Keep Pounding Panthers. Then the trade happened for the 1st pick. I knew we were taking Stroud. Now I'm miserable again and don't see any way out of it.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
