I don't care about Tepper's money when salary cap isn't involved. He just needs to hire people he trusts enough to leave them the fug alone and let them do their job. If that's Ben Johnson, fine.

...Yea...im speaking just on what it might take to get Ben Johnson  here...I think it will take more for someone to take on this train wreck. But dipper thought we were a drop in point guard away to competing from all the smoke fitt, (who he trusts), was blowing up his azz... is he going to be patient enough for a turn around or does his dumbazz think we are going to come close to competing next year?  Hes so far outta touch with whats going on its mind boggling... Jesus can't fix this in one year which is what Homer Simpson wants...but he can't buy.

I think the Chargers job is a bit overrated (still far better that ours though). They are $40M over the cap with an aging defense. They will have to cut some of their stars to make it work. The old GM left a lot to be desired. They do have a QB with a lot to offer, but one who hasn’t shown he can win when it counts.

newsflash - some coaches don’t want their career to die and actually want to go somewhere were they have a chance to win and don’t have to have weekly meetings with someone who has no clue about football nor do they want to have three way votes with his wife on what happens next lol

I agree, it's fools gold.  It's a better landing spot for someone with experience (at both positions) because they can rebound faster than having the growing pains and dealing with those type of things out of the gate. Chicago IF it comes open would be the better landing spot, great cap space, great GM, great picks. Yet, I feel like Chicago would try to lure Harbaugh.. this coaching cycle is gonna be interesting to say the least.

Johnson is the dream.

Harbaugh is the vet culture changer that can fix Bryce.

Neither are coming here. 

Belichick would not come to this much of a project at his age and history. I see him in LA or somewhere with more pieces to the puzzle in place.

Panthers fans need to be comfortable with either Evero, Slowik, Smith or O'Brien. Truthfully, Evero is going to make the most sense and deserves his shot. Learn from the Wilks mistake. 

I also think Flores could be a darkhorse, but I doubt he wants to go another round with an undersized 'Bama rookie QB.

What's funny is, that list we 'have to be comfortable with' would still be a great hire... sans Bill O'B and maybe Frank Smith.. don't know a ton about him tbh. If Johnson is the dream, I'd have to wager that Slowik is right up there. Did great with a rookie, granted better situation week to week.  Either way has him in MVP conversations and maybe 2nd in the league in passing... Lowkey I like Slowik, pairing him with a FO member from SF as GM. Evero is my close second though.  If we can't get a young OC hire Evero.

Neither Harbaugh nor Bill B are even confirmed to be in this pool of candidates to this point.  Mentioning them is a futile at this point.. I can circle back to them if and when they are confirmed to have NFL interest or interest to continue coaching.

      Same. I would prefer a MNF game earlier in the season. As if more likely has some significance in case things go south this season. If we perform well enough we could even get another game forced to a Sunday night spot later in the season.

      Wanted to jump into this thread. Although I do not post anymore I do look in as there are a few old friends around. Loved hearing some of the names you mentioned.  Another  oldie is NanceUSMC.  He is the one who got me here from the old Observer forum.  Good guy and smart football guy. I have learned a lot from a lot of good Huddlers over the years, Over time. we have sadly lost a few who left this earth too soon.  Anyone who know of someone, it would be nice to try to make a list.  One of the more recent, CosmoGirl,  was someone that kind of hit hard.  Life sucks sometimes. Some of the best times were when we had our own tailgate and could meet up in person.  I think it made us better. Several dedicated volunteers, lead by LiverMush, started setting things up in the wee hours of each gameday morning.  Don't know all those regulars but I remember JakeFlake was one.  For you newbies...each game,  a Huddler (or a group) sponsored the food for each tailgate.  Eating was free but a donation was asked for.  At the end of the year those donations were used to buy bicycles for Toys for Tots.  Over the years Huddlers bought a lot of new bikes for kids for Christmas.  (I am guessing a couple of hundred each year.)  We had a good time getting together, got to make friends in person, and then got to feel like you were doing something good. It was truly a community. I got to meet Dan Morgan at one of our tailgates...he brought pizza from his restaurant.  How many of you remember that?  Glad the restaurant did not make it....lol. Not only have people changed, and come and gone.....but the entire nature and purpose has changed. Nothing lasts forever and we move on but we still like to think about good times. Same reason we take pictures. Want to ask a question I have not seen anyone else mention......who remembers    "The Couch" ?  We have argued, laughed, lived the ups and downs of football and dealt with a little real life along the way.  A thanks to  the Mods who keep this going.  I am sure they sacrifice a lot of their time out of love for the forum and the Panthers. Take care my friends and be well.  I will close with my new favorite quote which I think is greatly needed in these difficult times.

      My top-5 JAGS: 1. Tommy Tremble: May not ever be top-tier, but has been solid and you never doubt the effort. 2. Cade Mays: Not bad for a 6th rounder. Hated to see him go. 3. Brady Christensen: One of the most versatile backup OLs in the NFL. Hopefully we re-sign him. 4. Trevis Gipson: Quietly was really solid depth last season. Glad we brought him back. 5. Brycen Tremayne: Has been solid depth at WR, flashing at times last year.
