S Fowler ‘not sure Young will ever work out’

Seeing the way Bryce played I am immediately reminded of some of his worst moments in camp. One play stands out. Bryce threw a no look pass to a receiver flanked by two defenders without even scanning that side of the field for a split second. Looked like he just wanted to get out of there. That's how Bryce looked yesterday. Not only does he not look like an NFL player he just doesn't seem to give much of a poo in general. Horrific leader as far as I'm concerned.

And the geniuses in charge made him a fuggin captain. Am I being punked or something?

Let’s talk about the fact that this defense that couldn’t stop Derek Carr once was destroying our offense for the better part of camp

Canales talked about not taking a lot of deep shots in camp because Evero’s system does a great job at limiting that. Then immediately Carr hits a bomb to start the game

Yes this team is bad BUT Bryce Young is honestly so bad he makes everything look so much worse

More than anything, this is what makes me genuinely not like this guy. If you try hard and you really seem to care but you just suck that’s one thing. This guy was the #1 overall pick and chose to accept all the accolades that come with it and he looks like he’d rather be doing anything else but playing football on Sunday afternoon. Tepper is so stupid that he got scammed again, just like with Rhule. However, this mistake cost him an untoward amount of resources whereas a failed coach is just a tax write off. fug you Tepper and fug you midget man.

Took em this long to figure that out. It was easy to tell that last season, and I’m just a know nothing fan.

I have said this many times, but it is bad when your fans seem to know more than the people actually around the team. The huddle(well, some of the huddle…there’s some in here who have held on too long as well) would have this team in a much better place than the folks making the decisions.

This was not an ideal start (understatement much?) for Young, Canales and the rest of the Panthers.

If I'm the Panthers, I am going to ride Bryce Young all the way through the season.  This is his big chance to determine if he's the guy, a guy, or an XFL QB...  While hindsight is 20/20, Bryce was supposed to be a savant of play whose brain allowed him to maximize his limited frame.  Supposed to hasn't been very useful to him or us.

I don't think Tepper can really afford to fire yet another coach.  When we hired Canales, I think it was @Verge (pleases correct me if I'm misquoting you) who said that Canales was a good hire, just a year too early.  Canales needs to learn how to be an effective NFL coach.  If we go back to the GM/Coach rotation again, are we going to get stuck with a retread HC again?  I don't care about Teppers money, but the perception of him being meddlesome will chase off the good coaching candidates.  We're going to have to give Morgan and Canales at least Matt Rhule's time (2+ seasons) to show some patience.

We also need to rebuild the talent level.  That's going to take time.  I know we all want to be the failure to hero turn around story, but we're not set up there.  We traded away (can't change the past) a really good WR, CMC, Brian Burns (he is talented!), and a pick that ended up being Caleb Williams (who didn't look particularly great in his debut FWIW).  We are not as talented as we need to be.  When was the last UDFA that made a splash for us?  Feels like Andrew Norwell...

Winning will cure a lot of ills, but I don't see that happening if we continue to play this way.  Hopefully Canales is able to find a lot of good teachable moments.  Right now, it feels like the same old crap.  That sucks as fans.

As far as Bryce - he's either going to turn into the DUDE, or he's going to lead us to a high enough record to get another chance at QB darts.

    • By all indications, the surgery was "minor." I know with all surgeries and especially back surgery there can be complications, but I think the whole time Tremble did this with the expectation he would be able to be back for Week 1 It sounds like he will be ready to start back in team drills next week. He's a veteran who knows the system so I'm sure that helps. I still can't imagine he will play a normal workload early on though
    • Maybe. He was pretty good in college before a bad injury. He had a good preseason last year as a UDFA in Washington and was on their practice squad all year so they obviously saw something worth developing. He signed a futures deal with the Panthers earlier this year, and everything about him has been increasingly positive. Tremayne has gotten a decent amount of time with the ones, and a lot with the twos for someone that doesn't have a chance. He's the only other 6'4" plus WR on the team, plays ST, and is a more natural backup to the X receiver position than David Moore. That was my thinking behind it. But he may well end up as one of the last roster cuts. If so, I do hope they can bring him back to the PS. But I personally think there's a good chance he could be claimed given his ST ability and what hes shown at WR.
    • That was my thought originally, but so many of the beat writers have mentioned keeping 7 WRs in conversations that I went with that, at least for the purposes of this projection. But you're right that historically defensive guys who were standouts at ST have tradionally gotten those last spots
