Ah yes........let's denigrate one of only two long term starting QB's in the 30 year history of this franchise.

That will certainly help us kickstart the end to this winning season drought now heading into year 8.

Draft euphoria is over and we are in the dregs of the offseason til training camp.  Buckle up.

I became a panther fan when I heard the team announced its existence.  We basically had two great periods.  The Jake Delhomme and Steve Smith years.  John Fox era.  Then the Cam and Rivera Era.  We are in the very beginning of the Canales and Bryce...

Enjoy.

BY is nowhere near the QB that Purdy is. I'm not saying Purdy is other worldly talent but he's a way better NFL QB than BY is at this point and I don't think it's close

This should be fun:

I hope Bryce smokes every record Cam, and every other NFL QB ever had. Do I think it will happen? Hell, I don’t know, but I hope it does. All PANTHERS fans should feel this way.

I always want the next man up to be better than the past. I want someone to overtake SS89. Luke. Peppers… but it feels weird admitting it, because, well, it just does. Why does it matter?  Because I want a Panthers dynasty. I want to see a decade of dominance.

I like Cam, I really do, but that era is long gone. His most successful year was a decade ago.

Nobody compares any of our new receivers to 89. Linebackers to 59. Corners to Gamble. RBs to Stephen Davis. TE to 88. Why does the  comparecam to Young go so bad. I’m

Bryce will only keep getting better. Purdy has already reached his ceiling in Shannahan’s offense, it will be laughable to compare them 15 years from now when they have retired. Bryce may never win the MVP due to a  bias for physical traits but I believe he will have a better overall career than Cam when it’s all said and done.  Yes I said it

Yup, after the first couple of weeks I thought we had ruined him. Clearly zero trust in his OL and receivers and a lot of bad habits developed. Classic case of a guy that shouldn’t have started year one, not because he lacked the talent, but because the team around him was so clearly terrible and it hurt his development. I still don’t know who to blame for that debacle, I think Reich is a better coach than that even if he’s no Vince Lombardi, and nothing really got better once he was fired. Thomas Brown looks like he might have been a pretty major culprit, he didn’t appear to do Caleb Williams any favors either and that was with a far superior supporting cast. Feeling a lot more optimistic and I think this could be a fun season.

This take is 💯 on point! Lots of conflicting ideals and a terrible roster would traumatize any QB, let alone a rookie. I’m glad the organization finally seems to be heading in the right direction.

I know most people here are sold on BY after those few decent games he had.

I am not

This year he has weapons, he has an oline, he has a good play caller, so this really is make or break year imo

It is probably wise not to start guzzling the Bryce Kool-Aid.  This is a great year, as you say, to see if he has what it takes.  The signs are good, however--because he played average (at times, slightly above) for 8-9 games. On the other end of the spectrum, Darnold played great for 15 games and sucked for the last 2, and he is gone--funny how only a few games can change your mindset.  In October, I was mocking QBs to us---and it was scary--at least this lets us enter the 2026 draft, one that has a chance to be one of the best drafts in history at QB, knowing what we have.

sure, but exceptions aside, its still a redo and they take a couple of years

Not necessarily.   Look at the redskins and Broncos.  There is nothing wrong with putting the best possible situation around your qb regardless of if there is a chance you bring in a new one in the future.  In the right situation teams can go from awful to good in a hurry.  It just takes some luck.  I think in today's NFL you should always want the best offensive pieces you can get to surround your qb with no matter who the qb is.

I hope he continues to improve, if not we will be picking a new QB in 2026

Don't be so sure, this team has a long history of falling in love with players and dragging their feet when it's obvious to everyone else it's time to move on--whether it be age, injuries or high draft picks.

Yea but they benched him last year. I think if Dalton hadn't got hurt we may have never seen Bryce again
