That Dowdle singing is about to be one of the sneakiest best moves for this offense.  He's a great compliment to Chuba.  Etienne drafting was good as well, obviously we all knew this was probably the most likely outcome after he injured it again last season.

Silver lining Dan Morgan had a learning experience early in his career here as GM.

This is exactly why I'm so pissed, the only justification I try to lay my head on is they were saying he should've been the #1 RB in that draft without injury, and also he looked very shifty last year. But man. I felt this was a bad pick when we made it, and it's looking horrible now.

How many 2nd-rounders we drafted have been a bust? The answer is a lot. You win some, you lose some. If he does come back, it's an added bonus. Let's play pretend we didn't draft him, and Dallas does, he never gets injured, and has a decent season. We would be bitchin that we don't have the foresight to draft talent. It's a no-win situation here with this board.

Yeap, cutting him would be absolutely pointless.  Bring him in with a year off next year, and see what he can do.  If he can't contribute, then cut him.

If that sounds far fetched it's because it is. He went down last season in a noncontact scenario. What other sign do you need? Unfortunately it was a high probability he was going to get hurt again regardless of where he was drafted.

You don't trade up into the second round for already injured players. It has nothing to do with any perception of the Panthers fanbase or the fans perception of the pick. It's simply basic common sense from an organizational standpoint and this organization better learn from it going forward.

Teams on the build are not allowed to whiff on top picks. Just can’t, and Brooks was just such a dumb pick. very Tepper razzle dazzle shiny toy esq.

I just hope the poor guy hasn’t checked out mentally after all of this. It has to be brutal from an emotional perspective. Played his whole life leading up to this moment and this is how it’s shaping up.

 That pick should have been a lineman/LB with a high floor from a big school but it’s water under the bridge now. Thank God the grownups were running this recent draft.

Good. Let the kid focus on PT and building strength back up. He's got two more years on his deal and RBs have never been more affordable, so there's still time to see whether or not he can stick.

If we were a solid winning organization most of us would have no problems with this selection. We would have had a capable starter in place to allow him to be eased into the rotation.

If were told prior to the draft that he had been completely cleared health wise, we "probably" wouldn't have a ton of reservations about this selection.

If we had picked this young man on Day 3 of the draft most of us would have no problems with this selection because we wouldn't have had to use draft capital to move up and get him.

Unfortunately, none of the above were true

1)  We were a terrible team in 2023 and needed an immediate impact player.

2)  He was hurt near the the end of the 2023 NCAA season. We traded up to get him even though we knew he wasn't medically cleared to play in 2024.

3) When training camp started we were hearing stories that the knee wasn't ready. That alone should have raised some red flags. I personally would have red-shirted him in 2024 in order to have him ready for 2025. We had Chubba as our lead back and other guys to fill the #2 and #3 spots on the depth chart. There was no need to rush Brooks unto the field in 2024.

2022 No draft choice. We picked Matt Corall in round 3 (#94) as our only Day 2 pick.

2023 Jonathan Mingo

2024 Jonathon Brooks.

We have taken 4 skill players on Day 2 of the draft for the past 4 years who have contributed absolutely nothing to the offensive side of the football. 3 are no longer on the team. Two of them are no longer in the NFL. One  could possibly never start a game due to a knee injury. This type of poor drafting is why this team has been so bad for the entire decade.
