Thielen traded

This is what rebuilding looks like. A 4th rounder and no salary? Smart GM.

Long term, I don't hate it.  It's mostly about timing.  Our QB is about to enter his 3rd year and we're selling off the best proven WR we have right before the season starts.  We can't even use the saved salary on anything else to improve the team for this year.

Long term moves are good, but was this really the right timing?  We'll see.

I think Theilan dropped a pass from Bryce in the first preseason game. He is washed, on the decline, over the hill (joking, but not joking.) He's still serviceable. Overall, it's a win-win situation. AT gets to go home, Panthers get a little compensation and we're already loaded at the WR position. AT has been Bryce's fav target but I agree with other Huddlers that if our offense is contingent on a 35 year old WR to be explosive, we are in trouble!

So I guess this mean XL and Coker are starting?

I think TMac and XL are listed as the starters but obviously we will be playing more than 2 WR on most formations so Coker prob is a starter in that aspect.

Let's say you have 1 car.  It has a bunch of miles but it still runs.  Its not worth much but you need a car to get to work, go to the grocery store, etc.  Someone offers you 200 dollars for the car, which is more than anyone else will offer you.  Is that then a deal you would take?

In your scenario you still owe the bank $10M for the car, which the new owner agrees to pay. And you also have a new car that you picked up for pocket change as an UDFA.

I think there are free agents that could replace Thielen's skill set if they want to, but not by week 1.

Bringing back Renfrow (if he isn't too injured to play) is the right move for now - IF they aren't confident in what we have in the room right now.

Tmac has NEVER logged a real NFL snap.  Againt #1 corners each week....Tmac could also have a really slow start to the NFL figuring out how to get open which wouldn't free up anything.

He will still be a focus on our offense. We invested a top 10 pick in him so he will get looks and plenty of opportunities.

Some of you are losing your minds over a guy that is no longer (seems he wanted to leave) here.

BY needs to develop with WR’s that are going to be here for much longer than a Vet that was going to leave. If BY 100% needed AT (security blanket) than we have bigger issues than an old WR leaving. It’s time for BY to either be the MAN or we draft a new QB next year with a loaded Offense.

I guess we are not interested in winning now. I do see the positive and negatives. I don't understand cutting Hunter. We need a solid veteran at that position.

Would make sense to cut him for both parties with intent to bring him back. He gets paid to be cut and if they want him back he comes back and gets paid again. It's not risk for panthers by allowing more time and leverage for the AT trade because Renfrow has said he doesn't want to play anywhere else

I actually think that it's a good thing. Bryce has to develop. A QB worth his salt isn't going to be reliant upon a senior citizen (in football years). Actually, it should make the entire receiving corps better. We'll certainly get to see what's what this year without an old security blanket.

    • Idk man, I think it’s necessary.  There’s people working 9-5s everyday that get told poo about what they aren’t and what they’re not capable of and they’re working for scraps.  These guys are making millions.  People are watching and invested because their team and fandom is a part of their identity and a big source of pride.  When someone like Bryce comes in and is given chance after chance after chance after proving he is not worthy of the position he’s being gifted, and he continues to be the biggest reason above any that we are losing, yeah…  I think it’s fair to call a spade a spade.  Am I saying Bryce the person is trash?  Bryce the person is a piece of poo?  Absolutely not.     I came up in an era, especially in basketball, where if you were fuging up people heckled the poo out of you.  I played in rec leagues as a teen where the fuging parents were calling kids trash and yelling poo like “TURNOVER!!!  TURNOVER!!!”  “CANT DRIBBLE!”  “CANT SHOOT!”  And that’s adults screaming that poo to kids like we were in the fuging Rucker lol.🤣🤣🤣  I went on to play basketball at a collegiate level and with professional players in different settings.  What those experiences as a kid taught me was to see if there is any merit to what people are saying, and if there is, then work my ass off til they can’t say that anymore.  Come back better, tougher, harder.  And I did.  If kids can figure that poo out, an adult calling another adult who is bad at his job while making millions and millions of dollars will be just fine.
    • I have tried to like this team, lord knows I have tried. BY9 is a nice young man, if I had a daughter he can take her to prom, but he ain't QB1 and he's not Cam or Delhomme Chuba is a average RB, he isn't Stephen Davis, he isn't J-Stew McMillan has the makings of a good WR, but he isn't 89/Moose D. Brown is a great player, but if the game was on the line I want Kris Jenkins       I miss this brand of football, even in the bad Jake games the games were entertaining It has been nearly 8 years now of watching numb football
