I guess people don't understand what ceiling means

Ceiling in context would imply it is reached more than once a year.

1 or 2 games per season of 300+ yardage that mostly happens in garbage time when trying to mount a comeback with the opposing team playing soft defense up front is not consistent with what many would define as an elevation worthy of aspiring.

Lol I'm the furthest from a Bryce apologist but there is enough to complain about without creating false narratives. To say his ceiling is 100 to 150 when most of his games have been above that is creating a false narrative.

It isn't that far off.  He only has 1 game this season with more than 200 passing yards, and in that one game, a lot of it came when the game was out of hand.

Among qualified passers, he is 33 out of 34 QBs in Y/A.  I think it is fair to say that generally speaking, his ceiling is about 150-170 passing yards.  Yeah there will be aberrations but considering he's averaging 176 YPG after 38 games, how can you argue his ceiling is anything else?  Only 12 times in 38 games has he cleared 200+.  Cam Ward already has 5 such games this year (9 games played).  Darnold had 15 in his first 2 years.

Not that yards are the be all, end all.  But hard to argue his ceiling (on average) is anything else.

Defense and Dowdle is the ticket. One hundred to one fifty yards a game is Youngs ceiling. Let him use his legs in situations where he can get some positive yards. He will never be a gun slinger, throwing darts all over the field.

A "game manager" is obviously his skill set. Taking the throws he can make and not making stupid mistakes is his game. They can win with this formula, they have no choice. Supplement Chuba when needed. This win wasn't luck.

Keep Pounding

Was just explaining this to some dummy named Willy in another thread. I think he was just smoking’ too much cheese.  This has been going on for ages. Trent dilfer got all the ladies and threw just as many interceptions as he did see dem TDs. This was the more violent era of football. The soft mfrs wanna see the passing TDs but the truth is that ain’t what ultimately wins football games. It’s a STRONG D, and an unstoppable run game, with some passes to keep the defense honest, if for a TD great.

in fact I would venture to say that the two panthers super bowls consisted of the same except cam threw more tds than interceptions and could run like Jamal Lewis and priest Holmes.

its a tale as old as time. Something all ball knowers understand.

I think there may be a difference of opinion of if limit / ceiling refers to typical games or the best possible outting by him. For some ceiling is meant in a career sense (what I think you mean) and others it's in a per game sense. I get both sides... if someone says game manager is a player's ceiling they don't mean they'll never possibly lead a team to victory on their shoulders ever, just not something consistent. But that isn't technically what ceiling refers to usually outside a sports players projections for a career
