I wake up this morning full of rage towards Ronald McDonald Rivera / Gettleman / Hurney

To the OP's credit, Ron Rivera, imo, used Cam at times like a fullback.  The fact that he never had back-to-back winning seasons with a stud QB says a lot.  The OL was an afterthought.  Cam saved RR's job many times.  RR was NFC coach of the year twice during that time, but he never earned it.  I wish we had kept Fox.  He got it.  Never had a great QB and won more.

I can't be the only one that remembers people always clamoring to use him more like a fullback? People claiming that was one of his biggest strengths using him to run in the short yardage and goal to go situations. Feels like when it was happening people actually wanted him to run even more because most of his injuries happened in the pocket. This hindsight narrative that Ron ran him into the ground doesn't really hold water when you look at what most people felt was the best way to use Cam at the time.

As bad as Hurney was at least he drafted Luke Kuechly. A big chunk of the huddle didn't want LB in round 1. A big chunk of the huddle didn't want Cam Newton either.

Just be thankful we even got a glimpse of such talent. Sure as hell never got anything like that with Scott Fitterer.

I didn't want to draft Luke given many clear reasons. RR at least knew how to grade ILBs, he called Luke the best college LB he's seen.

Herniay was maybe the best 1st picker in NFL. Rounds 2-7 and Free agency, he was one of the worst. He let emotions enter with the Jake resigning and overpayed countless players Charles Johnson, Dwill, Jstew, Anderson, etc. He never build a deep team, just nailed on 92% of those 1st rounders.

If we could bring him back solely in a capacity to pick his brain once a year for his first round draft pick input and absolutely nothing else I would do that.

Rivera and Hurney got us to a SB. It was a awesome year, but Cam fumbled the fairy tale ending.  Poo happens. There's more to life than some stupid game grown men play.

One day we might get to go back, but highly doubtful with that piece of 💩 Tepper micro managing things..

The NFL changed the rules on targeting players the next year after the SB with the way DEN players has diving at Cams head spearing him not even tackling him. So I doubt it was just "Cam fumbling it away"

Guess people forget what really happen SB50, just like the people who forget NE cheating with all the HOF snub stuff..

Rivera was not a great coach, the team absolutely would have been more consistent with a different, better staff. But on the flip side the staff could have also ruined Cam before his career even got started. He was OROY and won an MVP award. Cam had very high bust potential if he went to the wrong situation.

All they had to do was double team Von Miller on one play and they would have won a Superbowl. And Cotchery caught it.

Shouldve paid J-No.  Gettleman outsmarted himself, got to sniffin his own farts and fuged the 2016 season where we could have ran it back.  We dropped from 11th in Y/G passing to 29th...thats a plummet.  We were still decent against the run, but without being able to stop the pass it fuged us.

    • okay I found this and it sounds like my hopes for the first surgery being not such a great job seems like it could be actual reality.  I only hoped because that would give a better chance for recovery and ia a possible scenario so I just thought it could be possible. Had no real evidence of it. But I’ll be damned.    This is a detailed report of Brooks’ surgery and the condition of his knee after the failed repair.     https://x.com/jmthrivept/status/2055743129408704806?s= Sparked by some very good questions by @CoachspeakIndex, here’s some info on Jonathon Brooks: 1. Speculation that the first graft/ACLR by Dr. Cooper didn’t “take” or at least was too lax, leading to failure and re-tear. Brooks dealt with issues cutting, progressing in his rehab into the early stages of 2024 and then re-tore it late 2024, requiring a second ACLR in January 2025 (essentially revision). Notably, CAR prolonged Brooks’ rehab process through Sept-Oct due to issues progressing into the next stages of rehab. 2. Second surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who has extensive experience with revisions. He did a double bundle technique, harvesting graft from Brooks’ left patellar tendon and a strip of his right IT Band (his right patellar tendon had been utilized for the prior graft in 2023. The double bundle technique significantly increases rotational stability of the knee, leading to a stronger and more secure graft/reconstruction. Also to note, Brooks’ surgery wasn’t significantly delayed, meaning that the tunnels from his prior ACLR were in good shape and they didn’t need to perform bone grafts to fill in (would have delayed 2nd surgery by 5-6 months). Essentially, reading the tea leaves tells me that everything else except for the graft itself was still in good quality within his knee. Good sign for future.  3. Typically, you see a performance increase anywhere from 16-20 months post-revision. Brooks will be ~21 months out from his second surgery by the time Week 1 hits. His knee should be more stable and stronger this time around, with adequate time for healing and return to all movement patterns. I’m not viewing this situation as a typical “Player __ had TWO ACL tears, he’s cooked” situation. Rather, I’m viewing it as the first procedure failed, but the second procedure is significantly stronger and should allow him to return to form this time around. I don’t know why it posted as a link but there it is.
    • Jackie, any more reps tomorrow, or is that it for this session?  thanks for the work
    • How can you say they aren’t trying to win now with all the moves made in free agency? Or is trading first round picks the only way to be win now? I’d be fine never trading another first round pick again, win now be damned.
