I’ve never seen Panthers.com poop on a starting QB this much, not even Clausen

Teddy burned a lot of bridges the moment he shifted blame on Coach Rhule and everyone else, instead of himself. The next press conference, you could tell at Rhule went right back at him. The whole organization took notice. That and horrible play down the stretch...he dug his own grave.

Yep. It's one thing to play poorly. It's another thing to blame others for that poor play. I think you're right. That was the exact moment the organization as a whole basically said, "Yeah... fug this guy." Brady dialed up a play call that helped DJ get wide open in the endzone and Teddy missed badly then complained about the play call coming in late and not allowing him the opportunity to survey the defense and check into a run. You gotta be fuging kidding me with that bullshit. GTFO.

Teddy apparently burned a lot of goodwill this season. The writing is on the wall, he won’t be on the team next season.

I agree and don't think it was just his play either.  He was not the "leader" that we were told he was going to be.

Post June 1st trade we don’t owe shut outside of 5mil dead cap this season.

I think we would have a $5 mil cap hit in 2021 and 2022 for that prorated bonus.

A big part of Bill Voth joining was that he would be allowed to write critically of the franchise and its players. I couldn't imagine Gantt joining if he wasn't allowed to be his usual bitchy self.

I wish they wouldn’t talk him down too much. I would hope (wishful thinking) someone else wants to take a gamble on him and we can trade him for some sort of compensation. A team like the Colts with their line might think he can be serviceable there. Wishful thinking I know, but I don’t see the strategy in down talking him. It also lets every team know we are wanting to draft one if we can’t trade for one.

A bad GM signed a backup to start with a contract that is bad. Teddy has and will continue to take a beating but he made out like a bandit for a backup level QB. It's harsh but a lot of truth.

This is why keeping Marty was a bad idea by Tepper

It's sad that his less than hoped for performance has caused people to turn on him personally. Though that's the internet for you.

Sometimes in your effort to prop yourself up on your high stool you just completely imagine poo.

Well, Teddy did not do a very good job at QB last year.  I think everyone with the Panthers knows that an upgrade at the QB position would have netted this team at least 5-6 more wins.

I think this is precisely why there is so much focus on the QB position. The team wasn't expected to be nearly as competitive, and even at what should be 'the bottom' for the roster they were still competitive. A more effective player at the QB position definitely changes the story of the season.

Whether it happens or not, and whether word gets out or not, I think this team will make a run at Watson.

If it doesn't actualize/he stays/goes elsewhere, we're going after a top-3 QB in the draft.

I just think we'll be one of the, if not the hungriest team for a QB this offseason.

Teams like ATL, SF, DET, DEN, etc. may be flirting with the idea, but I think we are really gunning for a guy to run this offense.  It's been quite some time since we've seen good QB and OL play.  They want to change that.

Though I'd love it, I don't see how we make a deal more appealing than what the NYJ or MIA can offer him without setting our team back 4-5 seasons with lost assets.

NYJ: Darnold (25 yr old QB former #3 overall pick), 2021 #2 overall pick, 2021 #23 overall pick

MIA: Tua (23 yr old QB former #5 overall pick), 2021 #3 overall pick, 2021 #18 overall pick ... and, it's South Beach in a state with no income taxes.

CAR: Bridgewater (28 yr old QB) or CMC (former #8 overall pick), 2021 #8 pick

Watson can veto any trade, so I could see that possibly with NYJ, but Miami....come on.  A top-5 NFL QB making $20+million a year and could go be thee premier star in a major metropolis like Miami, why would I go to Carolina over that?

Miami is a Watson QB away from being a perennial AFC contender. Flores is a coach that players want to play for, that team is young and knocking on the door of the playoffs.

What Houston would ask of us would set us back so far. I'm okay with three years' worth of firsts and Teddy, but after that I think the risk-reward starts to hurt too much. We still have an incomplete OL, no CB1, a dance partner needed for Brown at iDL and three WRs that are within two years of walking.

If we overpay, we are no better than Houston was with Watson.
