Stafford ain't coming to Carolina unless the front office can somehow convince him we are further along in this rebuild that everyone else can plainly see.  Stafford has said he's not interested in being part of a rebuild.  We are just in year two, so yes, we are STILL rebuilding.

Ya I don't see any of the vets ending up here. Everyone is going to be trying to pull a Brees(Old school) Brady(This year) now. Nor should we want them. Really should just stick it out another year with Teddy and accumulate/use all the picks to round out the team. We aren't competing for playoffs next year baring a miracle anywho. 8-8ish here we come.

I was going to use Nick Foles but he fetched a 4th and he was a SB winning QB. So enlighten me, without bias speculation, what a good starting point should be. Last time I checked starting QBs are not traded often.

Technically he was the backup, but because Wentz got hurt Foles got the start the remainder of the season.  Kind of a catch 22 there, but generally starters worth their salt start with at a least one first round price tag and only get more expensive the better they are.  Remember, Philly chose to keep Wentz over Foles and Nick needed to be dealt,so they weren't going to get overly rich in their demands. While his trade price wasn't crazy, look at what he demanded once he got to the Jags and look where the Jags are now.  Foles massive failure is giving the Jags Trevor Lawrence.

I'd like to have Stafford. But not if it means giving up #8 plus more. He has a lot of wear and tear on him after 12 seasons of starting in the NFL. Maybe he has another 4-5+ years of high level play left. Or maybe he's already on the decline. I don't want to part with #8 for a guy who will be 33 in a couple of weeks. I definitely don't want to part with #8 and more. Two #2s would probably be my ceiling.

A team like the Colts or Niners should give their first for him and the Lions should take it. It gets Stafford to a team ready to win now and they get a mid first round pick for him which sounds right. Maybe throw in a 3rd... Colts 1st and 3rd for Stafford and Lions 5th sounds pretty fair to me.

I’d love to have Stafford, he’s a great QB who has been hampered by a bad organization.  The injury thing is overblown.  In his last 10 years, only in one season (2019) did he not play the full 16 games.  However, I wouldn’t want to trade multiple picks for the guy.  As much as I’d love either Watson or Stafford, I want to just draft a QB at 8 and roll with it since I feel like the compensation otherwise is just too much.  Trey Lance at #8

Doesn't matter, he's not the one with a no trade clause and he isn't retiring. If he got traded to Carolina he goes like everyone else does unless they retire, which again he isnt' doing.

Again my order of preference is:

1- Watson

2- Trade up for Zach Wilson (will likely have to be with NYJ)

3- Trade up for Trey Lance (probably with Miami)

4- Trade up for Justin Fields (probably with Miami)

5- Stafford on a reasonable deal (i.e. a second round pick is the max I would give)

6-Stay put at 8 and draft a LT, trade Teddy away to one of these teams jonesing for a QB and wait till next year.

we VERY much could be looking at option 6. Before you light your torches this is not what I want but if we can't do 1-5 we don't really have a choice.

    • I want the conversations at season's end to be more about what else we need to build onto the foundation to be playoff contenders and less about the fultility of drafting yet another QB and hiring yet another coach because as long as Tepper is the owner, it doesn't matter what this team does.
