Report: 49ers called Panthers about Teddy Bridgewater

Adam Peters probably got a real good sense of how the Panthers view Bridgewater during his GM interview. For all the talk about how much the Panthers learned from the GM candidates, those candidates learned quite a bit about Carolina, too.

I can't imagine wanting to move on from Jimmy G for Teddy. Jimmy G struggles with injuries but he's a decent QB. Seems like a better bet to bet on Jimmy G staying healthy than to bet on Teddy starting to throw the ball more than two yards down the field.

They want him for a backup because Jimmy’s injury history

That would be a LOT of money tied up at QB to not have an MVP caliber QB.

Jimmy seems to be their guy, they just want a better backup.  

I think TB has the makings to be one of the better backups in the NFL (like he was in 2019). He just doesn't need to start. Are they willing to pay $17M for good backup is the question.  If so, I'd trade him just to be rid of the salary and run with PJ as our #2.
