"King cited a source from a QB-needy NFL team who said Lance's lack of recent play -- he's played one game in the past 414 days -- makes him an iffy selection as a top-10 pick."

I swear, if we take Mac Jones in the top 10.  Ill be done with Tepper, Rhule, and Fitterer.

Like I have said since day 1.  Lance will be there at 8 the question is will the panther still be there.

This is great pending we aren’t the team he is referencing

I do think Mac Jones could see the field and be ready for legit NFL reps before Lance is ready

I think Jones is the safer pick in that respect.  His ceiling is lower, his floor may be higher, and his timeline to be ready to go in the NFL is probably shorter.  That is not to say he is the right pick, but safer for somebody looking to go that route.

I've heard his name mentioned with New England a lot.  That might surprise Peter King unless the Pats trade up.

Jones in ATL makes perfect sense. They even look alike.

Right?!

Not to mention their recent trend of picking unexpected players in R1 in recent years.

My only concern is Arthur Smith actually knows what he's doing so we can hope!

    • Kon is a damn stud but it’s not any individual player’s team. All of the “big 3” are incredibly and equally important IMO. And LaMelo makes Kon way better (look at his shooting splits with LaMelo on the floor vs without. Also Moose and even Miles are important cogs. Honestly think we’re 1 piece away from being legit top contenders if the young guys continue to develop the next year or two. I trust this FO to be patient to find that piece within the next 2-3 years and not force anything. Plenty of time and even without adding anyone we have the pieces in place overall already to compete with any team.
    • We lost 2 very close and winnable games against top teams in the league while missing 3 critical players despite 2 of our top 3 players shooting unusually terribly. Still split the 4 games that Moose and Miles were suspended, winning the most important one vs the Hawks. This ain’t yo mama’s Hornets man. Hopefully Coby can go soon but even if not Moose and Miles are huge additions for our starting lineup and bench rotations. Schedule is pretty tough after these next 4 but I think we’ll take care of business the next 4 to get to .500 then finish slightly above .500 after that to get a 7 or 8 seed. Keep it rolling boys. Also Kon is having an insanely historic rookie season as a shooter. Like truly can’t believe my eyes watching this kid level of historic. Man what a fuging home run of a draft pick and exactly what this team needed to take that next step forward. He’s gonna shatter the rookie 3 point and franchise 3 point records. Has a real chance to be the 2nd best 3 point shooter ever or dare I say even get to Curry’s level (as a pure shooter, Curry obviously has way more to his game that has made him a GOAT).
    • I hear you but yeah like you say, above average. His numbers were good. You’d think it would be a no brainer. Anyhow… I guess the new staff is also fine with him walking?    I hope if we sign him there isn’t some secret issue of his that led to him not being valued.
