Stephon Gilmore?

He wants a new contract but Pats are cash strapped.  What are the chances he gets traded and to whom?  

Do you think Panthers should try to get him?  He was not as good last year and may not get a ton of value in the trade market.  He also may expect to sign a long term contract which we may not want to commit to. 

I know we just drafted Horn but I wouldn't mind seeing Gilmore on the opposite side and move Jackson to the slot.   Wishful thinking of course.

No. He's 30 and fading fast. He'll want more than he's worth and someone will pay him on rep.

Not sure that if you're 30 and on the downslope this is a team looking to give folks a victory lap season.

Nah - honestly we are going to have to make tough choices as it is when it comes to CB roster spots.  We typically only keep 4, which means someone like Pride or Taylor may be on the outside looking in.

We are somewhat loaded at CB.  We got youngsters from last year draft that are going no where.

He doesn't fit the profile of the players we've brought in since Matt Rhule has been our coach.  Gilmore is a very Rivera signing.

No reason to get someone like that after drafting Horn. If they'd gone for Fields in Round 1 this would be way more possible.

We started with 5 corners last season. My guess would be we keep 5 again and go with Jackson, Horn, Bouye, Pride and Taylor (unless he just can't play).

Gilmore is an attempt to win now signing. We aren't even remotely close to being in that position.

Exactly this. Don’t sign 30 year old CBs to high multi year deals. 
 

we need to keep doing what we’re doing. Stay young and fresh. Keep building the roster over the next several seasons. THEN make a big FA splash.

Yeah, having some key vets to mentor our younger players would be nice but spending a bunch of coin on a guy on his way out of the league is, as was stated in this thread already, a very Rivera/Hurney move.

Roll with what we have now. If our offseason was a success, awesome. Keep building. If it was a failure, back to the drawing board in the 2022 offseason to figure out how to keep getting better.

No dumb cap moves, no lengthy free agent deals, no bad trades for vets. None of that.
