This. I was assuming that the OP meant as a back up that had more potential that PJ.

OP did say this at the end. " He may not be close to his prime, but Rivers would still be a serviceable emergency option for a team that sustains a quarterback injury late in the year."

So, I'm not really sure he meant for us specifically. Or even if Rivers would accept a backup role. But I will admit it sounds intriguing though.

This guys arm is in wayyyy worse shape than Cam’s.

Some here do genuinely seem unable to accept that sometimes a QB loses arm strength with age and/or injury. There are still people claiming Cam will win another MVP. At this point I imagine it’s more in jest, but I think some really do believe he can return to the Cam of old. The arm is just gone. Pitt will learn this lesson with Big Ben the hard way this year. They just don’t last forever. It’s hard to move on but that’s just life.

Or Scenario 3. Sammy plays well, we make the Playoffs, and the Huddle servers still go down.

or Scenario 4.  We find ourselves in need of a QB late in an attempt to sneak into the postseason.  CRA stands up in the crowd and starts a slow PJ chant.  PJ, PJ, PJ.  Soon it takes over the entire stadium! PJ! PJ! PJ!.   Rhule gives him the shot.  He continues his undefeated streak.  We go on to win the Super Bowl.  PJ Walker gets a statue.  In his speech for the Hall of Honor, he credits me for starting that chant and making it all happen.   PJ and I become best friends.  Everyone here is sooooo jealous.  And scene.

    • there is one common denominator in the 2003 & 2015 Carolina Panthers teams they both had ELITE top tier Qb play.  it would require a MVP type of season from Bryce Young to have the same type of success that Jake Delhomme had in  2003 & or Cam Newton in 2015 & lead this team to a SuperBowl is this going to happen or is there any reason to believe Bryce Young is capable of playing similar to Jake Delhomme in 2003 or Cam Newton in 2015 ? well no there is no absolutely NO reason whatsoever to believe that this is going to happen in 2026 ..just saying
    • I'd actually like to see Cherelus get a fair shot to win the job in camp. Wallace is decent in drop zone coverage, but he gets abused in the play action game and is often times out of position in the run game. It might just be me, but I swear every time I watch Wallace play, I see multiple plays a game were it looks like he's just trying to be blocked. Watching Cherelus last year he at least looked like he was trying to hit someone on every play. Wallace plays like a LB who doesn't trust what he sees and it makes him passive and cautious versus Cherelus who regardless of if his decision is right or wrong goes at it 100%.
    • Agreed.  Hasn’t happened to me either, but I feel very strongly about it.  That’s not just one of the worst things a woman could do to a man, it’s a power inherent to only women and is one of the worst things a HUMAN being can do to another.  A man can’t “hide” a pregnancy or maternity.  It’s impossible.  And that sucks for anyone that has to go through that. I always got a weird vibe off her and just found her very unlikeable.  Annoying even.  I’ve always been good at reading people and there was just something about her to me that was off-putting, somewhere under the surface.  And here we are…  she is despicable.
