Yeah. I told my son during the second half that I can't wait to see what he can do with the roster over a few seasons.

Rhule controls the roster...

...Fitterer gathers info and executes on Rhule's calls.

Fitterer's "GM" title is simply a PR courtesy -- Rhule is the GM.

All coaches control the final 53. Coaches usually identify the "type" of players they want and the GM usually goes out and gets them in any good coach/gm relationship.  Fitts is far from a figurehead and completely runs the draft and free agency. He engineered all the draft trades, draft confidential on panthers.com made that quite clear.

Uhhh yeh Fitt has plenty of power. He was the drafting leader. The group looked like they worked well together in panthers confidential video on YouTube

Nonsense.

100% agree, very competent exec...but he works for the GM, and that's Rhule.

The Appaloosa Model is collaborative in nature but Fitterer doesn't have "GM" powers, those powers reside with Rhule.

If you truly believe that then we should have kept Hurney.  "Rhule is the GM" right?

The GM builds a roster of 90 players that he thinks fit what the coaching staff are asking for.  He has final say on the draft and FA.  The coach evaluates that roster and picks the 60 players he think will get the job done.  He has final say on the in season roster.

That's how it works.  This doesn't preclude massive collaborative work between the two.  It's very clear that happens.  But each has final say in certain situations, and it seems to be working out pretty well.

    • I mean, he's a professional athlete.  What you think as a fan vs what he should think as a player are completely different.  Being bad doesn't mean you should lack confidence in yourself, and really that is true in all forms of life.  Do everything you want to do with confidence. Justin Fields sucks, but does he ever play like someone who doesn't believe in his own abilities?   Obviously you need more than confidence to be a high-level NFL player, and Bryce will never be that.  But he could still create 2-3 extra plays a game if he allowed himself to play more "free" like he did in the second half of last season.  The fact he refuses to use his legs to pick up yards nowadays hurts this team.  Simple things like that would go a long way for us, even if not for him.
    • I've always thought it odd that the QB is the only guy in the roster who carries a record. If a RB puts up 1200 yards but the team sucks then everyone still says the RB had a good year. If a QB puts up good numbers put the D is atrocious and the win loss record isn't great due to that then the narrative is that the QB can't win. Now that we're finding a way to win with suddenly dominant D and dominate running game people are trying to shift to this "Bryce is just a winner" narrative while he puts up bottom of the league numbers while near the top of the league in turnovers. It's just funny to watch.
