Shaq Thompson is playing as good as Thomas Davis in his prime.

Thompson was never really bad. He just wasn't as good as his paycheck.

That may no longer be true.

For this year? Sure. Dude is making almost 20 million next year and year after…not sure any 4-3 LB can play up to that asinine number only Hurney could manufacture.

A linebacker can only be so good if the players around him aren’t good.

We saw that with Luke near the end when our D started to tail off. Shaq then was left with that same defense for the bulk of his career.

Now that the talent on defense has greatly improved Shaq is able to play his position and not try to do too much/overcompensate.

I completely agree the talent has gotten better.  What I’m trying to say is Chinn was making those splash plays last year and now that he’s on the back end, Shaq has reaped the rewards of being in that spot on the defense.  He hasn’t wasted it that’s for sure.

TD didn't really become TD until around 2012 either, which was his 8th season.  He looked to be coming into form in 2009 but then the first of the infamous ACL tears happened.  In the early years he was a guy who could lay the wood but got burned in pass defense.  As we all know, he turned the corner and eventually developed into one of the best pass defending LBs in the league.  Let's hope Shaq has 16 seasons in him too.

Well, in 2022 there are 2 4-3 linebackers making more and in 2023 there is 1 3-4 inside linebacker making more already. So obviously there are other GMs who can manufacture those numbers

    • You honestly think Tampa would have traded down with a division rival so their rival could land a “generational player” at a massive position of need for TB?   bruh
    • Ya'll better quit throwing shots at Zod. He'll come in here and ban everybody. I had a friend @prosource who was banned in 2015 because he said some very minor things about Zod being an ass to the posters on the main forum after starting the All-Pro one. He said he felt like another level is cool, but don't punch down on people that don't want All-Pro. (He did say that it wasn't going to last long anyways.🤔) I distinctly remember him calling and being like "dude, I got banned, my profile says I don't have access to the Huddle!") I feel like once Tepper came in and cut off all unofficial access to the team, Zod was going to be around less. The All-Pro board had really good photos, even in game stuff, and I remember seeing him behind a little fenced in area at Wofford for non team sanctioned press/photographers after Tepper bought the team. I knew then his ego wouldn't allow him to continue with past fervency and effort with that reduction in access. Dude was literally in the locker room when JR was owner.  I came over in 2011 immediately after finding out this place existed. I was super involved with the Charlotte forum, and fell off after its demise. I will never forget arguing Pep over Ryan Sims on that forum! Who is Ryan Sims some of you may ask? My answer is exactly!
    • And not see him running free. Because has been free a lot more than he gets credit for.    Now what XL does with that when he does see the ball, is on him.
