REPORT: Texans have had serious trade talks regarding Deshaun Watson with Dolphins, Eagles, and Panthers

Until you have a real QB, you can't compete year in year out in the NFL.

If I'm Carolina, I'm giving up:

CMAC: Great RB, Good slot Receiver. Injury prone the past 2 seasons.

Brian Burns: Up & coming DE on rookie contract with 5 yr option. Love Burns, he can be really good, but not a game changer every single sunday.

Sam Darnold: NO COMMENT. Just get him out of here.

Robby Anderson: NO COMMENT.  Just get him out of here.

2022 1st rd & 2023 2nd round Picks: This needs to be included to beat out MIA & PHI who both have several 1st round the next few years.

Use the rest of your draft & free agency to build a real OLine & you can be a serious contender year in & year out.

That doesn't really answer any of the question marks I raised, but sure.

Ok the man is loaded. He probably flies people in to come detail his car. When it comes to his body, which is his livelihood, of course he will fly out the professionals he wants to help maintain it. What’s a plane ticket to these guys? You are so eager to watch a sports team win, but let’s draw the line somewhere…

The sad part about every one of these threads I read is I can see so many of the opinions expressed being vastly different if the Panthers were not a team being mentioned as a possible landing spot for Watson.  The NFL (and especially public opinion, which matters, of a team in the NFL) is not a court of law.  The man has a right to a legal presumption of innocence, he does not have a right to social presumption of the same.  In other words a person's reputation matters.  Whether I, or anyone else, agree with this evolution in theory is not relevant.  It's the way it is and we've seen this borne out many times in many different arenas in recent memory.

I asked my wife her thoughts since she might have a different perspective to mine.  To quote: "it would be creepy at best" if we acquired him.  I don't believe I disagree.  Unless he somehow comes out the other side of his legal problems squeaky clean (which, if we're honest, is not terribly likely) I want no part of him.  Thankfully unless the Panthers have significant information none of us are privy to I don't believe it will be a problem.

*Edit due to the worst sentence structure I can remember ever putting to a keyboard.  Also for great hyperbole*

According to Texans reporter Aaron Wilson, Watson has made it clear that he does not want to play for the Philadelphia Eagles. General manager Howie Roseman has monitored the situation in Houston over the past few months, but has backed off as the quarterback continues to maintain that he doesn’t want to play in Philadelphia.

“At one point, Philadelphia was really aggressive in this, to the point where Howie Roseman had even contacted Deshaun’s legal team, he sent an investigator down here… He had done a lot of leg work on this. Eventually what he ascertained, and I reported this back in August and late July as well, was that Deshaun wouldn’t waive his no trade clause for the Eagles,” Wilson reiterated on “The Zach Gelb Show” on CBS Sports Radio.

All these reports are 100% coming from the Texans trying to drive up his value and market to get rid of him before the deadline. Miami appears to be the only team actually interested in acquiring him right now and even then I kinda doubt they do trade for him before the deadline. Just too much uncertainty and Texans asking price has been high (rightfully so as they don't want to give away an MVP caliber QB for nothing, even with his off field issues).
