Move CMC to slot receiver in 2022

He is done as a running back. He will never have a healthy season there again.

 

As a slot receiver he could still be a dangerous weapon and also has a much better chance of staying healthy.

Couldn't agree more and with the cap continuing to rise paying $15 mil for a #2 receiver wont be the end of the world. Maybe a more dynamic Curtis Samuel

I’d agree with that. Get us a bruiser back again like Stephen Davis. Let CMC play WR and Curtis Samuel style plays

I never bought into CMC as a WR but I don't know what else we can do with him now.

Maybe play him when he's healthy, this is 6 games now that he's missed because Rhule uses him as a job-saving excuse first, as a RB second and as a WR third. He'd only be out 2 games with this injury. Same as last year, McCaffrey was able to play by early December and he was held out.

Either he moves to WR or we need to find a way to be without him. Love the guy and his skills but RB should be cheap and replaceable. 

He is done as a RB, just wasted talent at this point in that position.

Honestly, I have to agree. Basically put him in Samuel's old role for a season then cut bait after next year when the contract structure allows us to do so.

Sucks, but it is what it is. I don't blame CMC. Some guys just don't hold up at the NFL level. Unfortunately, an absurd percentage of Panthers' greats fit into that category.

Yup, extend his career and actually have a Cooper Kupp type guy in the slot who can take a carry or two whenever.

Because we suck and they want to get a high draft pick so Fhule can buy himself one more year

That would be nice, but don't think it will happen. No other RB/WR that was elite as CMC was has made the move before. I'd rather just trade for draft capital and/or o-line help.
