That 19-20 record stood out then and screams now. Also the "can he play LT?" comment when we still don't have a left tackle two years later hits hard.

Actually, we do have a LT now.  We have no (*&$@ing idea if he can play there because Rhule is hell bent on playing him at guard, but we do have a LT.

Not surprising, the huddle is very reactionary and has a very short memory. If they keep Rhule and he goes 11-6 next year they'll act like they never wanted to fire him, just like how everyone here was rioting in front of the stadium to fire Ron Rivera when he started 0-2 in 2013 and then they won 8 in a row and pretended they never did that

the NFL isn't college. Just look at Urban Meyer and Nick Saban.

100% correct.

And here’s the REALLY scary thing… Matt Rhule, with regard to coaching level and talent at the college level, wasn’t even a *shadow* of a Nick Saban or Urban Meyer.

(Or even a Steve Spurrier.)

    • Joe Person   @josephperson · 16m     Panthers become the 1st team this yr with 5 weekly winners: Rico Dowdle, Ryan Fitzgerald, Sam Martin, Tre'von Moehrig and Bryce. Panthers last did that in 2017: Cam Newton, Julius Peppers, Luke Kuechly, Jonathan Stewart and Damiere Byrd.
    • Gotta wonder if Smitty's brain has turned to mush with how hard he played in the NFL
    • OK, fair enough--however, since my point was that drafting a QB in the top 10 is stupid, if you consider the players who were not drafted in the top 10 or those who WERE drafted in the top 10 and did not secure starting positions with the team that drafted them, you should see the point.  Is it smart to draft a QB in the top 10 when only 4 are still starting for the team that drafted them.  Next, consider that half of that number, 2, were drafted outside the first round.  Next, there are 4 (Goff, Mayfield, Jones, and Darnold) who are starting on other teams after busting.   That number could increase as Arizona seems ready to move on from Murray, Miami is not sold on Tua, and jacksonville is still waiting for Trevor to start looking elite.  Bryce?   So to answer your question, there are MANY more QBs in the NFL who have busted and become starters on other rosters, were drafted after day 1, or are still on the cusp than the four who have become elite.  I thought that point was made.
