Sam Darnold can’t throw the ball past the line of scrimmage.

He had one game in the playoffs, and that last drive was anything but clutch. However, if it wasn't for the epic collapse of the Bucs, the Saints not starting Shough earlier in the season, or the Falcons bailing us out with a win we couldn't get ourselves, there is no playoff game.

Yay, we made the playoffs at 8-9. That ain't happening every year. You gotta be clutch during the season too and we didn't see that. To be clutch in the playoffs you have to get there. Bryce's performance this year is taking no one there except in the NFCS on a really bad year.

Criticize Darnold all you want, but he wasn't the one sitting on the couch cheering on another team to get him there, because he failed badly to get us there when he needed to be "clutch." You may not consider him clutch in the playoffs, but he's gotten 2 teams there, both with very good records too.

It's an unpopular opinion, but I think if you can't win your division with a winning record you shouldn't be in the playoffs unless by some miracle your wildcard record gets you in. It's just another participation trophy if you do.

Hold on now. Something seems to have gotten lost in translation here so I will make it as clear as possible. Sam Darnold is a better QB than Bryce Young at this point in their careers. I’m not criticizing Sam for anything, I’m stating in both their careers Bryce looks more clutch in the playoffs than Sam. That literally could change in 5 hours. Or maybe because of the last drive against the Rams your opinion is different. That is completely fine and I respect it. I also agree with your post quoted here.

Im not addressing or arguing Frank’s red herring it’s childish and he does it every thread, we can go find that in any of the other hundreds he does if we want to re hash it. I just ask you don’t argue his false equivalence to me like I was the one who said it. Frank can argue whatever he wants to himself.

I made this thread and I stick by it. Darnold looked like garbage at the end of 2021. But the entire Panthers franchise has been garbage for so long it doesn’t even matter who was the QB. It’s clear the team needs a QB so good the putrid stench of ineptitude doesn’t phase them, IE Cam Newton.

I agree. And Sam Darnold year three was worse than Bryce Young year three.

But there are so many things that go into it.  What kind of a team does the qb have around them?  How well do they interact with the receivers and offensive line.  How well do the coach and qb interact?  Does the coaches offensive philosphy match well with the qb's skills?

Sadly, we even found a way to screw that up.
