I was thinking the same thing.

My hope is that Fitt will start drafting a qb every year like he said he believed in. Of course the guy in charge doesn't seem to listen to his minions so there's that.

FUBAR

If nothing else, you would like to create some churn in the depth chart below the starter.  Every now and then, one of those guys gets to play enough and creates enough buzz that somebody will offer something decent in a trade in the hunt for their pot of gold....or pyrite.  The Pats pulled that off several times.  Everybody remembers the Cassel and Garoppolo, but they also peddled a couple of others for lower round draft choices.

For highway robbery, roll back to 1989.  Everybody knows the Cowboys took Aikman in the 1st round, but then in the supplemental draft they took Steve Walsh.  Jimmy Johnson reportedly liked Walsh better (since he coached him in Miami), and there was some real debate about who would win the job.  Aikman did, and a year later they peddled Walsh to New Orleans for a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick in 1991.  If that was not bad enough, they sent the 1st and 2nd to NE for the #1 overall pick that turned in to Russell Maryland.  The 3rd turned in to Erik Williams.  So, they turned a decent backup QB into first-class players at DT and RT.

Taking Walsh did cost the Cowboys the #1 overall pick in 1990, but they also had the #17 pick which turned into Emmitt Smith.

Someday, the Panthers, too will do something smart or have one of those "great dilemmas to have."  I'll probably be dead by then, but eventually it has to happen.

My gut tells me Fitt is going to trade out for pennies on the dollar to make up for the shitty shitty Darnold trade

I doubt it, for the most part teams stay really close to the chart.  It would be embarrassing not to.

About the only time you see a team overpay somewhat is to move up for a coveted QB.

Free Agency: Bring back Norwell and sign Ben Jones (center). I'm going to need Gonzales back also. Along with Luvu. Also need a DT, LB and a FS. Let Samir work his magic.

In the draft either stay at 6 and pick your LT of the three or trade back and maybe luck up and Linderbaum is still there. If not, grab Penning or Kenyon Green. If Green is the pick Brady fights for LT in camp. It all just depends on how far back we go and what moves we actually make in FA.

Take that second rounder go BPA again on the line. Hopefully we got a late third in that trade and go general BPA for the rest of the draft.

But if you stay at 6 go LT. Not QB, not RB, not CB.

Something tells me Rhule will pick Pickett if he has the chance. But if he won't play BC at LT because of his arm length how does he draft a dude with insecurity surrounding his actual hand size. Just seems like the Rhule thing to do though

Gave up so much for Darnold, he needs to sink or swim with that decision.

The wildcard: if Mcadoo has his sights on one of QB's in this draft, considering his past recommendations.

I mean he overpayed for a QB bust in Darnold so the jury is still out on Fitt. Maybe Rhule wanted him but Fitt made the shitty deal. It's just not a good move in the first place to have a college coach from Baylor micromanaging every move in the building, If we got Fitt first things might be different but we'll never know

Draft.  My plan would be to stick with Darnold this year since he's already under contract.  Build the Oline. if Darnold doesn't improve his play, we have a high end pick for a QB next year who gets the benefit of a better line.  If FA, we need to look at upgrading safety, linebacker and tight end.

He won't.

He is what he is :  A failure.   A bum.   A Bust.

The Jets suckitude as a franchise cleverly masked Sam's suckitude as a QB.

And the Panthers were the suckers for trading a ransom for this Shrek-looking clown.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
