Is There Anyone Other Than a T or QB for the Panthers at #6

I mean… if somehow it went - Neal, Icky, Cross, Willis, Aiden for whatever reason, what would you guys wanna do?

Trade down for a HUGE haul....easily 1-2 first round picks and maybe more for those top EDGE rushers....setup next year for the big splash

If Hutch, Walker/Willis, and all 3 tackles go in the top 5 = Draft Thibodeaux

If Hutch, Thibodeaux, and all 3 tackles go in the top 5 = Sauce

This is assuming you can’t trade back. Honestly, I don’t think most teams would be willing to offer what’s needed to trade up to 6 with those guys off the board

As long as we get top 6 talent I'll be OK.

That's about the size of it.

You're not going to be a legit team in the NFL by drafting inferior players at a needed position to the detriment of superior players at a not-so-needed position. If players are close, perhaps you have decisions to make; if players aren't close, it would behoove you to draft the obviously more talented guy and work things out.

I sadly think this team is dead set on QB for better or worse. Willis and Pickett are a toss up as to who goes first but I think they go first half of the 1st round. In addition to that will the Saints trade up to #5 to jump us or #7 to jump the Falcons? Will the Falcons or another team jump us to get a QB? What if Detroit or Houston decide they want a QB? My fear is we have lowered our standard to fit a major need to the point we’ll panic draft a QB just because management views it as a vital need.

It’s like going to the bar to find a wife. One night you see a perfect 10 but she gets snapped up before you can get to her or you see a 6 and pass her up because she has pointy elbows. 2022 feels like we walked into a bar on a Tuesday at 1am, stumbling drunk, and are going to propose to a 38 year old ex stripper from Lexington with a rose tattoo on her cankle that rolls all 300 lbs off the now thankful barstool.

Honestly, last year we were all saying QB or OT. And they went with DB, a good guy, but on offkey pick.

So, this year, we're all saying OT or that they probably will instead choose a QB...

so...

so...

so...

It could be anything. And then there will be a flurry of trading by our team that nets us a lot of "hey, look at what we dids" in the preseason and a bunch of mehs on the field during the real season, only to find out we've mortgaged the future again.

Remember, these are the guys who happily went to the podium with a pick of a LONG SNAPPER in the 6th round last year. And then they put him "injured" reserve to stash him away from being poached I guess...

Between Rhule and Fit, I'm getting tired of their antics.

If we draft Sauce after Horn, paying Jackson, and trading for Henderson I will be frustrated.  Sauce is a cool nickname though...  QB/LT are the biggest needs, Edge Rushers are always valuable also.  I rank the needs 1. QB, 2. LT (because BC showed some potential), 3. Edge Rusher.

I don't know that I'd consider them a unified front at this point.

Fitterer seems to want to build for the long term. Matt Rhule can't necessarily afford to do that.

    • I know it's only been training camp and one preseason game, but I think T-Mac has already shown his floor to be exactly what I said about him in the pre-draft process. That his floor if he never improves his game, is as one of the best #2 WRs in the NFL, if not even still a low end #1 (i.e. a 25th-ish best WR in the league). I think it's safe to say he's already established himself as our #1, and there are only a small handful of teams in the league where I don't think he'd be their starting #2 WR in Week 1. Bengals (Higgins), Dolphins (Waddle), Eagles (Smith), Bucs (Godwin if healthy), Rams (Adams) are really the only teams where I think he'd be the #3 as a rookie in Week 1.  A few others like the Lions (Williams), Bears (Odunze), Seahawks (Kupp), Commanders (Deebo), where he'd be the 2b to start the season, just because they're vets and/or already have a year or two of experience with their team/QB. And even having said that, I think by year 2, he's better than every one of those players (And no, I'm not saying he's already going to be better than a prime version of Adams, just whatever he'll be at 33 next year), and same goes for Kupp, but that's more because it seems like his body might be quitting on him in a way that hasn't happened to Adams (yet).
    • Well to be fair, Horn not practicing right now to let his stitches heal up from a car accident isn't something that should be concerning.  Sure, you don't want him missing practice leading into the season, but it's one that once healed, won't have lingering affects or fear of re-injuring it, it was just bad luck.
    • Quality backups are absolutely important. This franchise has been plagued with depth problems. That said, there is a little bit of dismay that Mays can't beat out a 1-legged man, and all the talk going into the off-season was how BC would certainly be gone since he had position versatility.  In the end, it doesn't matter too awfully much, as I would be shocked to no end if Corbett makes it through the season. We know what we have in reserve, and that should surely be better than trying to sign random fat guys mid season to try and take over.
