A better observation would be that turf is good enough for Charlotte FC, but not Chelsea. Why cater to a visiting team?

To bring Christian Pulisic back to BOA I'm pretty sure. The Liverpool vs Dortmund game was Tepper's first go at soccer in Charlotte if I remember right and Pulisic was the big draw.

Let me clear this up for you.

The MLS generally makes about 1 billion per year in sponsorship and broadcast revenues.

The NFL generally makes about 5.5 billion per year in sponsorship and broadcast revenues.

The EPL will be pulling down about 13 billion this year in sponsorship and broadcast revenues.

In America, we typically just don't "get" soccer.  In the rest of the world, it rules.

It would not surprise me to learn that Teppers ultimate goal is to flip the Panthers and Charlotte FC for an EPL team.  Would not surprise me at all.

No reason to flip he's got more than enough to own all three if he wanted. The Glazer family who own the Bucs and Manchester United have a fraction of Tepper's wealth.

I will never understand the amount of concern some of y’all have with grass. That is is not why we win or lose.

because it’s a sign of a cheap, clueless owner trying to save money

grass looks better and is better to play on, also better for events there is literally no reason to not have it other than cost

Your right, but players prefer grass to turf and they feel less injuries happen on grass (non impact injuries). Why not do what makes the players happy and feel safer? I continue to dislike Tepper more every day.

    • I actually was reading something today that pointed out how Cousins could only get one year in Atlanta. Don't remember the exact specifics, but think only about half of the guaranteed money going to Kirk in this deal was from a signing bonus, a lot of it is just guaranteed salary in years 2 and 3.  Which is the key in determining how big of a dead cap hit the team would have to take if they move on from him after 1 year in a trade. They'd have to take a decent dead cap hit if they trade him next offseason, but with Penix on a rookie deal, it's easier for them to take that hit. They can't cut him though, as cutting him would then put them on the hook for the guaranteed salary and give them a massive dead cap hit.  He also has a no trade clause, so they'd have to get him to agree to it as well, but knowing this now, I wouldn't be surprised if they look to trade him after the season to someone like the Raiders or something.
    • https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/08/arts/music/steve-albini-dead.html He was highly controversial, politically incorrect, and a self-described asshole early in his career before mellowing out, but he's an absolute icon of music engineering/production (although he disliked the label of "producer").  He recorded Nirvana's In Utero, Surfer Rosa by the Pixies, and countless other artists including The Breeders, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, Helmet, The Stooges, and so on.  He famously refused to take residuals on albums he recorded, passing up what would have been millions of dollars because he considered the practice unethical.  His own bands Big Black and Shellac were also influential in their own right. His later efforts focused on running his studio in Chicago, Electrical Audio, which catered to both independent and major label bands and artists until his death.
