Why Fitterer is ‘the man’ look at the value signing of DJ Moore

DJ gets a lot of grief on this site and nationally he isn’t recognized but the guy gets YARDS. Yes hasn’t gotten the ball in the end zone as often but how much of that is a team function vs reflection on DJ.

look at the past 3 seasons yards leaders then look at what DJ is getting paid and he did it with a carousel of horrific QB play.

great work by Fitt getting a top 7 WR at a market fair rate

Overall that’s great value, in order for it to be a steal, D.J. needs to start putting the ball in the end zone. Hopefully that begins to happen now that he’ll have a somewhat competent QB throwing him the ball.

However, D.J. deserves just as much praise as Fitterer. He could have easily told the Panthers he wants more or held out for the market to set itself, but by all accounts he’s a team guy. Four of the top five guys on that contract list have switched teams in the past few years… that says more about them than it does the teams that traded them. D.J. deserves just as much credit for taking a team friendly deal while still getting paid.

Poor DJ.  I love the connection he and Baker seem to be growing.  Even Robbie is making plays.  After Christian Kirk robbed Shad Khan blind, we really got DJ for a damn good deal.

Tight ends are probably going to explode next.  Guys like Kelce at 14.3M a year are worth so much more than they’re getting compared to some of these WR contracts

I would take a little less just to play out the whole deal then take a max deal then cut 2 seasons later in a cap saving move.

Just about to say the same thing. A reasonable contract gives him a better chance to actually get the money.

Plus, he knows they won’t be in a position to replace him for a long time. Better to stay here vs be more expendable somewhere else.

Then you consider the number of targets he has needed to get those yards. Puts him near the bottom of the league.

WRs make their money on 3rd down, in the end zone, and producing GWD receptions.

Yards are meaningless when a player gets all the touches/targets. That goes for any position. A WR could have an 80 yard reception every game putting the team in FG range and do nothing to win a game. Are you going to celebrate that? A RB could average 3 yards a carry and get 1200 yards in a season. Are you going to celebrate that RB as a 1000 yard rusher?

    • Thank you Chuba for being a great team player. He could have said I am the starter and really messed this team up. Chuba is a great teammate and understanding what is best for the team. Chuba will have his time, we will have a point that we need Chuba
    • He has 8 more games, for me. And that is 8 more than he deserves for what he has shown over 2.5 years.  But he has them and we will see if he can do anything with them.
    • Bryce did exactly what was needed of him That INT was bad. A wobbler the wind then took as well. Ugly. But other than that he did what he needed to do especially when we needed it the most  Game plan similar to Falcons. Neutralize the pass rush. Run the ball. Get ball out quick. Bryce extended multiple plays and picked up a couple firsts with his legs.  Maybe if we had a coach that understood this simple philosophy when playing against a team with a real good pass rush we’d have won the SB in 2015
