I disagree, honestly. I think if it was Wilks, he would have been announced once we completed the final Rooney interview. The longer the process goes, the more I believe that Tepper has zero'd in on Steichen and is waiting for him to be eliminated or after the Super Bowl.

Seems clear we're waiting on Steichen. But it would be a very classic Panthers outcome for him to turn us down opt to stay with the Eagles and us end up crawling back to Wilks. Could see it going either way. But my preference is obviously anything but the status quo.

I am not sure there is anything clear about our direction at the moment.

He already interviewed with us right? I don’t think he would waste his time to simply turn us down.

It's never a good idea to rush a major decision.

There is no need to rush we have plenty of time. Just make sure we hire the right guy this time.

Rhule set us back big time.

Agree with this. No need to rush. Play it cool.

regarding Ruhle, you are 100% right that his hire was so bad it may take a couple years to get over it. Completely f*clef our franchise six ways to Chelsea.

Already have my spot reserved for the “Fire Wilks”.
We will be serving “I Told You So” alcohol. It is as bland and boring as Wilks is.

Concerning Wilks, in my opinion, the biggest indictment against him is the 21 play, 91 yard, 11:43 drive engineered by MITCH TRUBISKY. Let me repeat that: Mitch Trubisky! Steve, you simply COULD NOT allow that to happen in what turned out to be your biggest game as head coach.

I will cut him some slack on the Buc loss due to the injuries. But not the Steeler game. His coaching life was on the line in that one. He flunked.

Hey I hope not but it happens. Just ask the Charlotte Hornets. And that coach actually took the job initially haha.

Please hire Payton, Broncos organization, before Tepper does something stupid.  If there were zero strings attached to Payton, I wouldn't be opposed.  The steep buyout and total control is a deal breaker for me.

Maybe...

Kaye thinks if Steichen isn't the primary target, the Panthers could wrap things up within the week.

If we were really stoked about retaining Wilks it would have been done the next day after the Rooney rule was satisfied.

    • Exactly He's played two seasons and started 28 games. He's well beyond the point of being able to point to 2 or 3 games and being able to say, "THAT is the QB he is and will be in the future" Of course he can get there, but anyone trying to use just those couple of games to rank his place amongst the games QB's today and their full career's worth of playing at that level, is just asinine. Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, Daniels, Stafford, Goff, Geno, Purdy, Baker, Love, Dak, Tua, Kyler, Lawrence That's 17 QB's right there that have played better over their careers than Bryce has played at his best.  And I'm not saying they're all studs or guys I'd want to be our QB moving forward, Tua for example I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, but his body of work is a million times better than Bryce's has been. It's also not including any of the other QB's drafted in 2023/2024 other than Daniels. So again, say you believe in Bryce, say you think he's going to prove he can and should be our QB of the future, that's all fair and totally fine. But nobody can say he's been an above average QB in his career thus far, it's just an asinine notion.
    • I'd think we could get one of those from Dallas for... whatever.
