Young vs Stroud with links to their passing plays in 2022 games

I want CJ Stroud but wouldn't be too upset with Bryce. I'd just be cautiously optimistic because of his size.

If the Panthers brain trust decides on Bryce instead of Stroud they clearly see something special with Bryce to take that risk of selecting him over a safer option in Stroud. Especially given what we know about what type of QBs Reich and McCown like.

The most obvious signs point to CJ Stroud but I think there's a small chance they might convince themselves to take Young instead.

Anyone notice how basically all the Ohio state qbs almost for the last decade has put up basically the same numbers? Fields and Haskins basically had the exact same passing stats as fields and that passing didn’t translate to the nfl. 70% completion percentage, 40 TDs, 6ints. Hell even further back you still have pretty impressive passing stats.

so that’s a big red flag to me.

CJ Stroud is the only answer for me. I love the fact he isn’t a “RUNNING” QB. That style of play isn’t sustainable. He is good at going thru progressions and slight adjustments in the pocket. That’s what made Brady great. Being mobile with pocket awareness. Burrow had great WRs and he is balling in the NFL. And lastly, Bryce’s height and weight ABSOLUTELY is an issue.

I think Young processes incredibly quickly and is a bit more elusive in the pocket. I don't trust his deepball and his size is a concern for me. CJ might not process with quit the same snap imo, but he's still able to get through his reads and make the correct decision with plenty of quickness and he has outstanding pocket awareness without being quite as slippery. He also has an effortless throwing motion with a beautiful deepball.

CJ is who I want all day between the two.

    • You guys are just going to have to accept the fact that Dan Morgan is a mid GM best case scenario currently. I used to have people get very belligerent over defending Scott Fitterer too. And that's not hyperbole. People used to go to bat for that guy like he was blood related. We have a truckload invested in the OL and what do we have to show for it? The whole unit is already banged up including one of our big signings. Even without all that the group has largely taken a step back from last year in pass protection. Then you get to the QB room and there's only two conclusions you can make about Dan Morgan. Either he deliberately ignored it two years in a row on his own accord or he took orders from Tepper to do so. Either scenario says he's not fit to be an NFL GM.
    • Frank, ceding control of the defense in no way verifies that Tepper told Canales to bench Young.    It certainly buttresses the idea that Canales would need permission to bench him but that is as far as you can take it.    After that it is pure speculation and it doesn’t make sense.
    • Uhh, okay yes that happened. I didn’t like the pick either I am a 3rd or later RB guy. Always. Actually hated the CMC pick too. Hated the Stewart pick.  No one wants to talk about trading the #39 in that draft and what he did with that.  Got #52, #155, and the Rams 2025 2nd to boot.   The 52 and 155 plus our 142 5th rounder to go up for a Brooks Everyone wants to forget about the 2025 2nd for that Rams trade  which was used to move up for Scourton.  That Rams trade down was a great deal for us.
