I'm torn. Theilen and Nuke would be the best WR tandem that I can remember in a long time us having but maybe a couple years too late. Adam and Nuke both got a bit of age on them. I think Adam will help the young guys but I worry another vet might take reps from our young guys.   I'd rather sign a corner with that money.

What that's rough it seems like we're a big play WR and upgrade at DE away from real contention but that's how I see it. Maybe an upgrade at CB as well but those 3 positions are one off-season away. And realistically our DBs might suffice a year after DJax injury he'll probably be back to himself after this season.

That was not the case when he was still young, as his contract gobbled up the cap he had to make do with just his one weapon and a bunch of jags situation he is in now. Get Hop on 1-year deal and convince him that he can prove he can stay healthy here and get his bag next season.

If we sign Hopkins, then we need to trade Chark for a CB, a DE, or move him down to 5th on the depth chart.

Next year with Hopkins isn't worth risking the development of TMJ and Mingo.

Now matter how much some people here scream it, we're not legitimate SB contenders this year with Hopkins, and the development of TMJ/Mingo is probably the biggest key to the 2023 season outside of Bryce's development.

The 3 of them are the future of this team, not Hopkins, not Chark, not Thielen, not even Sanders.  The future of our offense lies with our Bryce, our OL, and those two WRs.  Outside of those 3, some OL, and MAYBE Tremble if he breaks out, there isn't a single player on this offense that has any chance of being on this squad in 5 years and more likely not even 3.

Our prime SB window opens next year and is there for 3 years while on Bryce's rookie deal cap hit before an extension would kick-in in year 5.  Next year can't be an experimental year at WR, we need to either have the starters already on roster or make splashes in FA or trades.

And if we sign Hopkins, short of injuries forcing them up the depth chart, we won't know about both TMJ and Mingo before next year, and that's not acceptable.  Struggling this year to know better about our future is so much better than even making the second weekend in the playoffs thanks to having Hopkins.

And if people can't see that, then they can't see the forest through the trees and can't step back and look at things from the outside through a logical lens.

I would focus on CB and Edge. WR room doesn’t look great but you are going to take reps away from young guys like Mingo and Marshall that need them.
 

Hopkins is 31 and has a combined 1200 yards in the last two seasons. More important to invest in our younger guys right now.

I'd agree with this to be honest. Wouldn't stop me from being excited though, if Fitt feels it is a good value adding a talented vet WR for Bryce.

I disagree.  Hopkins  IS  a bonafide #1 receiver.   IF you can get one, and it fits your salary cap etc..  you try to get better.  He would ( or should ) make Bryce better . 

I think it's too early to grade  Mingo without live action.  I also think they should know what they have with Shenault and Smith.

      It is tiresome for sure. This whole 6 year run is tiresome. I am tired of this team. Really just, can’t stand ownership’s reign and decision making and am worn the fug down by them. And the people who defend their mistakes, year after year. Oddly enough I have optimism, slight but it is there. Not about Bryce, he represents the bad Tepper decisions to me and either will change that opinion or he won’t.  I just have a decent feeling about the Morgan and Canales duo.

      Many of those posters are still around. The ones who compared him to hall of famers in this and other sports. They're just biding their time waiting to see if Bryce will suddenly turn into a great QB. I think the way you frame it indicates the problem. It's either on one side people who as you put it "don't like him" (in most instances impossible to truly know on an anonymous chat board) or people who need to see him with stacked talent to form a conclusion after hyping up as a one man show a year ago. You say there are discussions to be had but if it involves anything remotely on the side of negative instead of the "everything is awesome" end of the spectrum it is met with talk of what some are now describing as a pathological need to be critical of him. As if the rest of the sports world doesn't have these same blunt discussions whenever he is mentioned. If there were truly other more notable discussions to be had right now that haven't also been discussed endlessly we would be having them. We just had yet another uniform thread. Instead the top 2 threads dominating the front page for the last 24 hours since the first blueprint episodes dropped have revolved around the starting QB. That's just the modern NFL. Some people want to shoot the messenger over that because they don't like the banter that follows 🤷‍♂️

      #1 thing you need for any rookie QB (as far as personnel goes) is the OL. Second thing you need is a run game that takes the pressure off the rookie and allows him a chance to grow. run games are just easier to manage for someone still learning the ropes. third thing you need is reliable bail out option receivers who can 1) get open and/or 2) just catch the ball. last year we had none of that in place. this year i think we've gotten together everything that he should have had last year.
