We essentially turned Mike Williams down

Jets essentially overpaid to rent a deep/jump ball specialist for an all in win now Aaron Rodgers season.

we weren’t supposed to march that price tag….given we were basically a 180 degrees from where the Jets are

I am happy.   We already have 2 veteran WRs.  If Mingo and a rookie aren't allowed to play, how do they improve?  We draft players that are developmental and we want to discard them as soon as they don't become superstars.  In fact, we are more patient with first round picks when we should be more patient with the day 3 picks.  Develop them.

I am OK letting Theilen and Johnson be the veteran WRs this season.  We have a WR deep draft.   I think a first rounder will fall to us at 33 and I think we can find one later in the draft.  Even if we lose both Thielen and Johnson after this season, we would still have 3 or 4 non rookies--add another WR then.

While I belive that he wasn't the best value and that we had a number, let me just say that we don't appear to be in lose-now mode either.

It looks like we are trying to build up for the future. A one year rental on a 30 year old WR who can’t stay off IR isn’t worth overpaying in our situation. A cheap one year rental to help develop our QB? Sure? But that wasn’t the case.

From where the jets hope they are.

I expect them to do what the jets do and fall on their face in spectacular fashion. But they are throwing everything in it because they know they won't ever have as good as a window as this year. They have no future.

    • Don’t get me wrong, I love Koochie. I think he could be a star. But I’m not convinced Rod trusts him. And I realize my post was confusing. I meant based on the reports of swapping Necas for Ullmark or another goalie. If we’re going to trade for a goalie I would rather use draft picks instead of lowering the value of Necas.
    • You can make a decent case that most of the starters are at-least average. But depth-wise, its awful, maybe the worst in the NFL.  The only reason they could be a playoff team, is the awful NFC south and its collection of bad QBs and coaching staffs. That changed big time when cousins and Morris arrived to ATL. Now it would take a setback to cousins, in which he currently ready to play given all the stem cells and peptides stuff he has.  In past years there was always some elite talent leftd on the 7 win rosters. Like many know theres just dbrown and a huge ? in horn. If hunt was elite, phins would have tagged him. There's no Thomas Davis, Luke, Cam, Olsen, peppers, kalil, beason, gross, Jenkins, Smitty etc on the team. Brown is great and all, but sacks and pressure wise, he's not game changing. Panthers lack difference makers, young ones. You could make a weak case for clowney, but that ravens D is stacked.  Us fans just need to hope Dan Morgan can collect more young difference maker in the next 2-3 years. If Bryce isn't that guy, 4 years before this team can sniff the playoffs.  Honestly the panthers are due some luck as well.
    • The fact that Smitty TD and all of our other black players love JR, it was probably another made up cancel culture BS to go along with the times.
