What would a successful game for Young look like?

He needs to showcase the super processor and have his passes on target while not hiding in the pocket for 3 seconds. Must convert his 3rd and short attempts. Need to see at least 2 Andy Dalton deep passes completed. He needs to be a consistent threat with the pass on the run when he escapes the pocket, and he must be able to make defenders miss while escaping the pocket.

This is his 2nd chance. QBs rarely get a 3rd chance with the same team.

I don't care what his final stats end up being but just having him go out there and play with a little bit of passion and fire would be a massive improvement. I wanna see him act like the benching and embarrassment actually meant something to him and for him to come out with a chip on his shoulder.

Well the fans and the local media are already using the broncos defense as an excuse of why he will struggle.  The same people that have been crying for him to play again the last couple weeks.  Of course everything has to be a perfect situation with Bryce. Heaven forbid it's actually a challenge or he has anything placed on his shoulders.

This circus needs to end soon.

If you eliminate the obvious anomaly that is the Packers game, Bryce in his last 11 games: 2 TDs, 9 INTs, 60 QB Rating, 5 Y/A, 44 sacks, 7 fumbles, Panthers are scoring 8.3 PPG in that stretch.

A "successful" game for Bryce Young will still be really freakin' bad.  It ain't even worth fantasizing about.

Honestly.. I hope that Bryce balls out. I hope he comes out pissed off and lights it up. Hell, the entire team should be pissed that they are all basically trade tokens at this point.

I dont care about getting the #1 draft pick this year. We will be top 5 regardless, so I just want to see some grit. Play mad.

I'm not sure what it would look like.  Anything better than what he's shown so far would be an improvement. He would have to play lights out and have a couple of scoring drives before he ultimately flames out I guess. I don't think there is anything he can do to salvage his career here.

Same. I need a superstar performance at this point to get over the long list of negatives with Bryce. If "not bad" is his ceiling now he's basically a worse version of Teddy Bridgewater.

If anything he's playing for a backup job. Starting is not in his future here unless he starts playing lights out soon. I get the feeling Canales is not on board with developing Young but is between a rock and a hard place at the moment. I'm not sure how this story will end. It's possible none of them will be here next season. That includes coaches as well as Young.

    • It's honestly pretty interesting just seeing this pairing play out. Canales’ offenses (Seattle, Tampa) are run-first, under-center, play-action systems built around defined reads and intermediate/deep timing throws. That structure worked when he had QBs like Baker Mayfield or Russell Wilson in a system that created clear launch points and sightlines. His success has always been tied to a credible run game + play-action gravity. You can see that with the Panthers team building philosophy as well. Coker and TMac both are bigger receivers that won't get the best YAC production but thrive as possession receivers in contested scenarios. They're not the best in space and creating additional yardage in such, and would likely fair better systematically with a stronger armed QB who can create better opportunities on those boundary 1v1 matchups with stronger throws. Bryce, on the other hand, is a spread-native QB. His strengths are rhythm, spacing, quick processing, and off-script creation. Asking him to live in condensed formations with long-developing play-action concepts just hasn't been his forte. And well, his boundary throws are limited in velocity which takes a big chunk of the playbook off. And I mean a QB like Bryce can still work, it's just Dave's offensive philosophy and foundation is very much at odds with Young's physical limits and his own experience. So it's certainly still a learning experience for Dave to figure out how he can mesh his offensive philosophy with Young's strengths. He's very inexperienced with maximizing Bryce's strengths with his system. Would love to see us bring in an OC with spread experience and adaptability to implement a cohesive system with Dave to allow Bryce to thrive, as it's obvious we're sticking with him for a bit longer.
    • Only thing I really agreed with is questioning why we didn’t take any timeouts on their last drive.  I know hindsight is 20/20, but I think it would’ve saved clock bc they were desperate to score as soon as the opportunity presented itself, but I also think it could’ve helped the defense regroup and maybe give us a better chance to stop them.
