He's going to be excellent. As will this team. 

Just not this year. 

The crappy record we post this time will be the manure pile that grows us something great.

I think we can all see the growth happening here. Coach is doing a good job, players on a very young team are growing up and we're standing toe to toe with the teams we will have to beat to be good.

XL will have some very good games over the next few weeks, and I think he'll have many, many over his career here.

I'm really, really looking forward to those post game interviews with him.

XL has four drops on the year. A lot of you guys are calling just about any pass that is in arms reach that isn’t caught a drop. Yesterday wasn’t a “drop”, it was a difficult pass that wasn’t reeled in. By the standard XL is being held to, a lot of veteran WRs would have astronomical drop rates. XL’s is 6.8%, not great but not horrible by any stretch. In college his drop rate was 4.8%. McConkey’s was 6.3% fwiw.

Are you going to second guess every pick? That is something every fan can do every year, and some just refuse to take situation into account.

It's year one, and it takes time to adjust. He's no worse than many other rookies, and better than some. Could he have caught the pass somewhat thrown behind him yesterday? Maybe. But it was hardly a drop. 

Stop nitpicking and look forward to his gradual improvement over the next couple of seasons.

The comparisons between Legette and McConkey need to take place around Year 3 IMO.  McConkey was always going to have a wayyy easier transition to the NFL since route running is his strength, whereas Legette is more raw but with a prototypical NFL X receiver build.  I would guess McConkey, even as a rookie, is already close to his ceiling.  Legette hasn't even scratched the surface of his potential...we just need to see if he can get there.

He is letting passes hit him in the head instead of going out and catching them...

I'm not going to claim he's a bust or to get rid of him (he's a rookie playing pretty well tbh), but he's missed quite a few catchable balls.

Honestly, wasn’t real impressed with Brooks yesterday at the game. Bucky looked way better, unfortunately. I thought Brooks was quicker and more elusive and would be a compliment to Chuba but he looked more like a Chuba clone. Maybe he’s rusty but he was not elusive at all. One run at David and he didn’t have any wiggle just tried to run through him and well, didn’t.

We needed Legette, so I hope he improves but man, unless Brooks is really rusty, he’s going to be our big regret, especially with Frazier available to fill our C opening with a potential pro bowler.

Yeah to be fair, the "drop" stat has never been a really great indicator.  He's had a drop in almost every game this year, multiple in some, and often important ones.  I think he's going to get better for sure but this stat is not a good indication of anything.   I don't think we are set at WR and probably should look to a draft another true #1 that will be a bit more dependable just in case this is the ceiling.

Yeah and after seeing how big those Texas linemen looked vs A&M on Saturday night, I'm not really sure what they were thinking with a 2nd round pick.  Just his first impression, but he did not jump off the page.

      So Willis had a good game against a poor defense and all of a sudden he is worth 50 million and is guaranteed to be better than Young. LOL I know he looked good in the 3 games he started, and I think he will have success long term, but anyone signing him up for a long term contract for 50 million is taking a huge risk.

      Is he really though? Rivera was past his prime and probably shouldn't have even started 2019 so his firing wasn't really unexpected or unwarranted. Rhule lasted two and a half years which was about one year too long in my opinion. Bringing him back that third year certainly wasn't impulsive and I would say Tepper was more patient than he should have been. Wilks finished out that third season and did pretty good but most everyone could see he really wasn't anything more than an intern HC. Bringing him back was not the long term answer so not bringing him back was the correct call. Hiring Reich was a mistake from the beginning and he recognized that fairly quickly. I am sure he knew he was going to catch a lot of sh*t for firing him so quickly ( and boy did he ) but it was absolutely the right thing to do given everything that was going on. The firing may have looked impulsive, but I think it was him recognizing he had royally f*ck up and just dealt with it instead of letting it fester.  That brings us to Canales. 2025 was only his second season and yet he delivered 8 wins and the NFC South title. And while that might not sound great, given the lack of talent and cap space they started with, it's a strong step in the right direction. I couldn't imagine Tepper not being pleased with their progress given the crap the Panthers' have been though under his ownership.
