I’m trying to be positive on Bryce Young, but….

I don't play Madden anymore - but if they adjust ratings every week, they likely need to put his Awareness down to like a 5 out of 100 after that play and the other play where he couldn't decide whether or not to scramble or throw the ball and didn't really end up doing either one.

I’m SMH and trying to figure out how Bryce goes from horrible to being top 10 the last 10 games of 2024 to being horrible again. You watch guys like Allen and Jackson play the way they do and I have to think that maybe Bryce just doesn’t have it.

From what people have been saying, and I agree with them. Is that he was so good towards the end because there was no pressure to win. We were already out of the playoffs so everything was just icing on the cake. Now with a new season and “expectations” his mental fortitude sucks. He just doesnt have what it takes to make the tough and good decisions in critical moments of a game.

I'm not sure if he was actually throwing it away, or if it was just a completely horrible pass.

Regardless, it's inexcusable.

If that wasn't a throw away but an actual pass attempt, then he should be cut right now, not tomorrow, not even just "today" but right this very second.

Sanders was open but he wasn't tall enough to get it there with 2 big boys occupying space in between. It's not always that size matters but a 6'2"+ guy would have had a chance and Cam would have gunned it or ran for a first.

Just admit the obvious that his limitations are pretty big and not just his size.

so i have said this so many all these NFL Qbs are talented or they would not be in the NFL in the first place &sure play good at times

consistency at Qb is what separates them all from the elite Qbs that play good week in & week out to Qbs like Bryce Young who plays bad way more than he plays good

& you can'ttruly  evaluate any player on what they do  just 25 % of the time & all at the same time conveniently ignore the other 75% of bad play .they are both equally important parts of the equation

...just saying

I tried.

I’ve been down on him since he came to Carolina. Even when he was doing “well” at the end of last season, I still wasn’t sold because his numbers still didn’t pop out. He was still putting up game manager numbers. He had a really good game against ATL, and with that I told myself I’d be ok with him getting this season to start.

After this past performance, I am squarely on the get rid of him train. All this inconsistency; I’m good on it. Ready to move on. I could see him playing decent down the stretch like he did last year, but the pressure will have been relieved by then. Ready to move on.

100% agree. It was great to see the turnaround but this season was supposed to be his ascent to being an above average starting NFL QB, not a mid level game manager. At this point those games looked more like Kyle Allen's "Baby GOAT" run than anything else.

He has had enough chances. It's over.

Yea...how many times do you wanna jam the square peg in the round hole...guess as many times as Dipper tells you to.

He clears left to give himself a clean look.  And Sanders is breaking to the left in stride, should easily be able to place it well.  Toss it, lead JT to only where he can grab it, it's a 13 yard throw.

But then he suddenly stops, plants in a terribly awkward position, with his body parallel to the LOS, feet are facing in opposite directions angled outward.  It's egregious for a QB at a D2 level.

start this at 7 m 15 s and put it on .50 playback speed:

    • I'm going to humor you in case you're actually being sincere and are just ignorant. Also, you're not very good at tossing barbs. Please stop.  I did not say random; I said arbitrary. That is a much different thing.  You're comparing QBR in starts across multiple coaching staffs, seasons, offensive personnel, against defenses with wildly variable of levels of competency, and don't really have a lot of data points. Choosing the dividing line at pre and post benching is arbitrary, and it's not even consistent. He was benched in his first season too. Why not when Reich was fired? Or when Canales was hired? Or when they drafted XL?  Also, what are potential lurking variables here? I would if I was grading this tell you that you're not really showing anything useful. If your argument is that his QBR has trended up on a per game average from "this point" on then congrats yes you're correct. This is called cherry picking data.  I understand you're trying to make this quick and dirty, but QB rating by itself doesn't really paint a useful picture. A simple thing you could do it do a second line along the same time domains of what the defense ranked league wide at the time they played each other. I would try to use a cumulative stat from the same source, tho. So qb rating v scoring defense across these specific truncated set of games that have occurred across three seasons with multiple coaching staff.  Some other suggestions for you  1. This is the wrong type of graph. You want a scatter point.  2. The range for QB rating improvement is like 15 points or whatever. The y axis is broken up into 25s. How can I quantify the line?  3. Quarterback rating goes to 158.3. Why does your line only go to 125?  The only thing I would really take from this is that Bryce Young sucks in a way that QB rating doesn't pick up on. This is what you'd call a "problem with the data."  Lastly, I would point out that QB rating as a formula was finalized in 1973. Offenses were so anemic back then it's referred to as the "dead ball era." Maybe not the best metric to measure QB success half a century later. like buddy i've taken masters level data science courses, and believe me I've done some shitty fuging work. my masters thesis ended up being about why my method of data collection didn't work well enough for me to defend my thesis. I wrote 100 pages just kinda shrugging and saying "Well ya know covid is so challenging etc."  You're trying to tell people their eyes are lying to them and are posting a very bad graph to do so. Don't be upset when people not only argue with you but point out how bad your graph is.
    • The first 6 games of 2015?  He averaged 40 yards rushing and 210 yards passing for 250 yards per game, at least so says pfr... https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/N/NewtCa00/gamelog/2015/#63-68-sum:stats
    • I hope he balls out but our memories of the Washington game are still fresh
