Carolina had a ‘college defense’

NFL offense have adopted alot of the ideas and concepts from the College game it only makes sense that that NFL defense would too. I don't think this is a bad thing, I like to think we are on the cutting edge.

One thing this team does not have in common with 03 is winning by the skin of our teeth.  Many of those games, we played not to lose, and relied on Jake and the offense to setup a last second score.  Despite the offensive sputters in the 3rd quarter, the ability of this offense to keep moving the football yesterday was big.

College defense or not that defense completely shut down the Saints offense.

This. I watched the game again last night. We were running a “big dime” the entire game. 

I actually don’t know what to call it, but basically we only had a single Linebacker on the filed the majority of the game. We went speed over power yesterday. 
 

we also moved Chinn all over the place again. Lastly, we ran a staggered cloud 9 as well. This is what the rams are running too. I wouldn’t call it a college defense but rather a modern NFL defense

Pro or College - whatever we're running works.  Brees can laugh all he wants but he wouldn't have been much better than Jameis yesterday because last year he could just pick on Whitehead all day.

I'm not sure what he has to laugh about unless he was laughing at his old team. That "college" defense kicked the Saint's ass all day long.

I was fully prepared to be pissed at that sob last night when he *started* talking, but I'm not sure he was really being a d about it.  His weird laughing aside he had some specific things that he called more common in college - so unless he just outright made it up I'm not sure he was wrong.

Then again who cares - if it works they can play a fight song with a marching band just to make it a MORE college atmosphere as far as I care.

I wouldn't pretend to know what Brees is looking at when he says "college defense."

But here's what I have seen: 10 sacks, 3 picks, holding QBs to a 52.5 completion %, 93 total rushing yards thru 2 games.

Side note: anyone see the Saints HC post game? Priceless he was so down he couldn't even keep his head up after that curb stomping, keep looking down and just looked  defeated...lol

We finally have the players to make whatever scheme work. Doesn't matter what inspired it, or where it came from, as long as it works, and Snow is willing and able to adapt to different offensive challenges, which so far he has.
