The offense line was actually adequate vs the Falcons

Is it just me or did the offensive line have an entirely different feel yesterday?

Being able to get aggressive in the run game is the key. Get them out there inflicting the punishment instead of always on their heals in pass protection.

Of course, teams will now game plan for the run against us, so we shall see if it continues.

Aside from Darnold's runs, it was still pretty inefficient.

I think with McCaffrey back, we can win playing that way because our defense is so good.  But I didn't think the OL was overly impressive.  We just took advantage of a below average defense.

Scott on the right side all of a sudden made that right side look competent again. As a result Paradis looked to improve from mediocre to below average.

Adequate is the right word to use. There were still mistakes, missed assignments and holds but you can compete in a game with that line. That being said, OL has to be the number one priority next year. If not number 1 then 1B.

Oh and shout out to Ian Thomas too. Thought he did a very good job at the point of attack yesterday in the run game.

They looked better, but are still unbalanced. The 46 runs yesterday was still not close to the 50%/50% that they are striving for. If they can get closer to that then that will help out both the pass and the run by not allowing the opposing defense to get a handle on what they will be calling coming out of certain formations. However, I am happy that they were able to dictate the game other than being controlled by the defense.

Did you all watch this game?

Over 200 yards rushing. 0 sacks. And we controlled the ball for 35:23 mins.

We struggled in the red zone but if DJ holds on to that pass goin g out of bounds, we feel alot different.

You can be cautiously optimisitic and say that the Oline improved.

It wasn't just adequate, at times it was dominant in the run game.

Take a look at Scott and Michael Jordan on the replays. That may be the best guard play we have seen all year.

I think Mike Davis actually won us the game yesterday.  When he knocked Shaq on his ass yesterday,  got up and flexed like he hasn't been an absolute bum this year it seemed to light a fire under this team. Shaq was an animal after that And it seemed the oline was tired of being punked yesterday as well.

    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.

    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
