Rhule would obviously be gone as would Brady as he is half the attraction there with his connection to Caleb Williams and we know Rhule is not going anywhere without Phil Snow along for the ride.

It's been reported that Williams has already entered the portal.

If he wants OU I don't see them waiting around to see if he finishes faceplanting. Tepper just needs to tell him to pursue it. Dude is trash in the NFL. Hell, he very well may prove to be trash at the high NCAA level.

If Rhule got a call….I’m sure it is just OU working on contingency plans if their top options end up not working out.   I just don’t see how he could actually be high on any list at this current point in time.

That's false. Spencer Rattler entered the portal. Caleb Williams is in wait and see mode though rumors indicate it's under heavy consideration pending the new coach.

Bc the reality to the fans of a team is not reality.

The reality to everyone except CAR fans is that Matt Rhule is seen as a coach who did really well at Temple. Then turns a dumpster fire Baylor Bears team into a B12 runner up and plays in the sugar bowl.

Then comes to Carolina and through the first 11 games of this season is basically .500 without CMC and Sam Darnold, PJ Walker, and off the couch Cam Newton as his QBs. He has also built a top 5 defense.

So we can say what we want about Rhule. I don’t necessarily think he’s a great NFL coach. But not everyone on the outside analyzes every down of an NFL team the way fans do. It wouldn’t shock me at all if Rhule got an offer from OU. I’m 50/50 on whether he would take it or if he’s the type of guy who really believes his system always works and wants to stay to prove it.

I don’t have any sources near the team anymore like I did years and even more years ago. Everyone I know that are at the college level or close to other groups say Rhule is 100% staying in Carolina unless he loses out. But they also know jackshit. By then most of these jobs will be filled. If he leaves, the next couple weeks will have to be it. Plus he’s on a bye this week so there is that.

He expressed a total commitment to coaching at Baylor just a little before taking the Panthers job (signed an extension too if I remember correctly).

Literally can't trust a word he says. He came off so authentic when he was hired. Now all I hear is a man who thinks he can talk his way out of anything.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
