Why so much optimism for Corral?

Seems a good portion of this board think he may the answer to our QB woes or at minimum upset that Baker/Darnold will take away reps from him, hence impeding his ability to develop into a franchise QB.The odds of him becoming a franchise QB hover around 1% or less based on his draft position.

In the last 20 years you have:

Dak Prescott drafted 135th overall in 2016 8th QB taken that year.

Derek Carr drafted 36th overall in 2014      4th QB taken that year

Russell Wilson drafted 75th overall in 2012 6th QB taken that year

Kirk Cousins drafted 104th overall in 2012  8th QB taken that year

One could reason all of those QB’s would have been taken even earlier if not pushed down by higher rated prospects.

Outside of them you don’t have a single QB anywhere near earning the label of a franchise QB or even a good to great starter drafted outside of the 1st round.

So why is that so many seem convinced we struck Gold with Corral?

cause being a pessimistic turd sucks. Is he gunna be successful? idk, but ima be optimistic about it cause it sure beats being a miserable fug like a few on this board. using their panther fandom as their identity and relying on panthers success to make them happy.

I love Corall and I think he’s a great prospect/great dude(regardless of how the media portrays him.) But am I expecting him to save this franchise without ever seeing him play a snap in the NFL? fug no, FYI to everyone butthurt we got Baker, he has proven to be a better QB in the NFL then a third round rookie who hasn’t touched the NFL landscape.

We’ve been hypnotized. That one buffoon has posted the same thing with the Golden Corral picture a dozen times in every thread since the draft. You can’t help but to believe eventually.

Oooooh. I get to call names too? Because some of you got some sht coming.

Stay classy fool!

He has some nice traits like arm strength, quickness, and a very fast release. He also saw success in a tough conference usually outmatched against more deep teams. He also seems coachable. Dropped his INT % a lot from 2020 to 2021. Honestly he just needs to bulk up and see if he can learn to run a NFL offense. He checks a lot of boxes despite where he was drafted.

I am optimistic about Corral and think he will a chance to show what he can do. I like the fact we aren't rushing him along out of  necessity. I like we brought in veteran competition for Darnold to start the season. We need to keep swinging for the fences until we get our man.

    • It's not common for a RB to recover from two ACL tears in the same knee. It's fairly rare. You are correct that it isn't the career ender that it used to be but there is also the fact that we appear to have largely moved on with the additions of Dowdle and Etienne.  Dobbins is a very good example. He has basically missed 54% of his career regular season games since he came into the league in 2020. It will end up being 57% at the conclusion of this season. It's a big contributing factor to why he is on this third NFL team in 6 years. It's certainly possible that may be 4 by the beginning of next season. I would say there is very little chance that Brooks ever contributes in any meaningful way in Carolina. Possibly with another team but I am extremely skeptical of his future here because of those injuries and because of the roster.
    • Dude he didnt play in pre season.....  he didnt practice at all with the team until the end of October.    I do agree though.
    • Bryce had a hand in the Miami win but not nearly as large of one as Rico and he also had the extra burden of being a big reason we were in the hole in the first place. If we get a winning season he is definitely back for next year though.
