Rhule's new contract with Nebraska is structured so that his salary is heavily weighted towards the later years of the deal. because of that, he's getting paid slightly less over the years that overlap with his Panthers deal, and he's suing for the difference between those two numbers.

honestly I think it's pretty greasy that he organized his new contract that way, really transparently just trying to squeeze an extra $5M out of his deal. which, in a vacuum I wouldn't really think much of it, go ahead and get your money. but in the context of Rhule's performance and his...demeanor after getting fired?

greasy.

another example of him talking a big game but not having anywhere near the ethics to back it up on a personal level.

Tepper just needs to give the guy his money and let him go away. He hired him, and he decided that it was a good idea to give Rhule that contract. Just pay the man and let the franchise move on without that distraction.

Yep, everyone on here giving Tepper a pass, but his dumb ass signed Rhule to that contract so be a man and pay up. Tepper is a weasel that doesn't pay his bills (see the Rock Hill debacle).

With this context, I agree Tepper doesn't owe him poo. It'll all come down to the wording of the contract. It's arbitration and this is a strong argument. Don't know if arbitration has a discovery process, but Rhule might not have a leg to stand on with this.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
